Internship Description: The Juneau Violence Prevention Coalition (JVPC) is looking for a dedicated, passionate student determined to make a difference in their community! This internship entails supporting the efforts of JVPC’s and AWARE’s girls empowerment programming. Our goal is to improve self-confidence, self-esteem, and increase healthy choices for women and girls. Our girls empowerment department at AWARE runs the Girls on the Run (GOTR) program across Alaska, including locally here in Juneau. We also provide leadership for the Boys Run I toowúklatseen (BRITK). Both are empowerment programs for elementary students, using running as a method to show how to achieve your goals, and provide space for discussions on negative gender norms. Some tasks may include supporting our GOTR and BRITK programming, being a liaison between participating elementary and middle schools and AWARE prevention programming, as well as providing administrative and logistical support for our bi-annual 5K to celebrate our program participants.
