June SES PTA GENERAL Meeting Minutes

  1. Meeting called to order at 2:20pm.
  2. Meeting attended by Ellen Jung, Renee Kuczka, Stephanie Grover, Rebecca Khalik, Kara Conover, Brian Clubb, Jessica Beirne, Holly Youngblood, Mr. Raska and Mrs. Foreman.
  3. Motion to approve the Mayboard meeting minutes by Stephanie and second by Renee.
  4. Motion to approve the May general meeting minutes by Kara and second by Stephanie
  5. May Treasure Report approved by Stephanie and second by Kara.
  6. Topics for Discussion:
  7. Senior Walk: Went well! Was a really nice event.
  8. 5th Grade Moving On Party: Also went really well. Students will receive gifts tomorrow of locker locks and fidget spinner.
  9. Budget: Approved via email by the board. Motion to approve the 2017-2018 budget as approved by Renee. Approved.
  10. Dates for Summer Executive Board Meetings: July 6th at 10:30am and August 7th at 12:00pm.
  11. Principal Report: A big thank you to the PTA board and a special thank you to Ellen. Nurse Meissen will retire this year. No other retirements at this time. Will have some classroom moves. Kindergarten enrollment is close to 60 students. SES is hosting TDT camp (outside counseling agency) here this summer and summer school will take place. Also hosting Responsive Classroom Training next week for 100 Stafford county employees. Sending 12 teachers plus Mrs. Foreman and Mr. Raskato the Learning Summit in the county. Idea to couple a speaker about online/cyber bullying with a general PTA meeting next year. Please make sure all passwords for PTA gmail, facebook and bank accounts are changed to the new board ASAP. Will ask Cheryl in cafeteria for ideas/ways to possibly save milk that is currently thrown away?
  12. Treasure Report: Our Tax person has moved. Rebecca will look for a new person for the Audit. Will also have a professional audit conducted this year.
  13. President Report: Ordered the chrome books for next year. Should deliver tomorrow or Friday. Jessica will schedule the Theater IV productions and Mobile Education programs. Should receive an invoice to hold Boosterhon dates for next year in the next day or so for March 19-28 2018.
  14. VP of Ways and Means: Stephanie will find out when School Book Fair is scheduled next year. She has been sending Spirit Night dates to Lisa Devine to add to the master calendar. Reminder of the idea to Duck Tape the principals next year! Moving forward with online School Toolbox as well. Will look into buying a new large rock from Volcan for the front of SES and “rent” it out for personal messages as a fundraiser. Looking into “flocking” with flamingos as a fundraiser, too.
  15. VP of Membership: Have 7-8 forms back with volunteer interest for next year. Looking into online membership for next year. Would like to have a sign up banner in the hall for volunteers next year.
