Dear Friends of Our Journey,
It is so exciting to share with you what your donations have accomplished. In 2012 Our Journey set a goal of purchasing 1,000 blankets at $13.00 a piece for the orphan/vulnerable street children in Kenya… we reached that goal in February 2012… Praise God! I will be in Kenya this September and will help distribute these blankets…We can never have too many. The need is so great! We have distributed over 5,000 blankets since 2005.
Our Journey also set a goal in 2012 of launching 4 Satellite Gardens for the local volunteer women that feed the 400 ++ orphan/ vulnerable children at Somalala Primary School in Zimbabwe. These volunteers have been committed to the program since its launch 4 years ago. Some had to carry these big pots to the school every day since the school didn't have the utensils to support this project. Everyday some women have to walk 5-6 miles to the school to make sure the kids have their meals prepared.

These same women also volunteer in the Community School Vegetable Garden which helps to supplement the feeding program. Thankfully, last week we had enough funds/donations to begin the Satellite Garden Project….Praise God!

Our goal is to train these women in business skills so that the volunteer women will approach their project with a business mind of making a profit. We hope by 2014 a fruit and vegetable shop will be established to sell the produce from these gardens.

Our Journey is doing similar garden projects in Kenya, all current gardens in Kenya are worked by local people, street children, orphans and older women. They work in the gardens for food for their families. The vegetables from the gardens help us to supplement all three Feeding Projects in Kenya.
Last, but not the least, Our Journey in faith has committed to continue to help local Pastors in Kenya and Zimbabwe to feed these orphan/vulnerable street children. We are currently supporting over 110,000meals a year to children in Kenya and 90,000 meals a school year for the children at Somalala Primary School in Zimbabwe. For most of these children; this is their only meal. We are still in need of more donations to continue these feeding programs….Can you help us!!!!
With a $25.00 donation we can feed one child in Zimbabwe a meal a day for the school year!
With a $36.00 donation we can feed one orphan/street child in Kenya a meal a day for a year.
