1.2.PARTICIPATION
Each federation enterone couple per eachKata. The competitors can only participate in one Kata.
The competitorsmust be ofthe same nationalityasthe country,which entersthem. Competitorswho have double nationalitycan onlyrepresent1 participating country.
Whena competitor changes nationality, he must wait 3years before he canrepresent the newcountry,unless thetwocountriesconcerned(theoldcountryandthenewcountry)agreeto authorizehisentryforthenewnationalityandthisisaccepted bytheIJF(AccordingtotheOlympiccharterArt. 42).
1.3.AGE GRADE
Participantsareto be 18yearsof age and over, minimum1stDan.
Couples can be composed of either 2 males, 2 females, or a male and afemale.
1.4.KATA
TheKatarecognizedforthese championships,will befive:
•Nage-no-kata;
•Kime-no-kata;
•Katame-no-kata;
•Kodokan-Goshin-jitsu;
•Ju-no-kata
TheJudgeswillevaluatetheseKataonthebasisoftheofficialKodokanKatastandard accordingandwith referencetothe officialKodokan edition ofvideo(official amendment onlyshould be considered if any)
1.5.INSCRIPTION
Numericalinscriptions
ThenumericalinscriptionsmustarriveattheJUAsecretariatandtheorganizersoneand half monthbeforethe startofthecompetition.(SeeAnnex2forthedeadline.Pleaseuse Form1forthenumericalinscription).

Thenominalinscriptionsmustarriveatthe JUAsecretariatand theorganizersaboutone monthbeforethe startofthecompetition.(SeeAnnex2forthedeadlineandtheaddressoftheJUA Secretariatcanbefoundin Annex 4.Pleaseuse Form1forthenumericalinscription).
Entryfee
The inscriptionfee is100USD per competitor per Kata.
1.6.CONTROLOFNATIONS
a. Finances
ThefederationsmustbeinorderwiththeannualfeeandotherfinancialobligationstotheJUA.Theinscription feepercompetitormustbepaidtotheJUA.Inordertotakepartatthecompetitionthenationalfederationmust havefulfilledthe necessarypaymentstothe organizer andthe JUA.

b. ControlofEntries
Identity:Nationalityandageoftheparticipants.(Eachathlete’spassporthastobepresentedtotheJUAofficial bytherepresentative ofthe delegation.)
List ofentries:The list of entriesisconfirmedwiththe JUA official.
Noother inscriptionswill be accepted afterthe end ofthe nation control.
c. Accreditation
AlistofalltheregisteredathletesisgeneratedbyJUASecretariat,whichisconfirmedbytheheadofdelegation that it isthefinal list.
The JUA accreditation cardsmust be presented before each demonstration.
1.7.CLOTHING
UNIFORM
•Stronglymade in cotton or similar material, in good condition(withoutrent ortear):
•The competitionswill be held inwhite judogi only.
•Thejacketshallbelongenoughtocoverthethighsandshallataminimumreachtothefistswhenthearmsarefullyextendeddownwardsatthesidesofthebody.Thebodyofthejacketshallbewornwith theleftsidecrossedovertherightandshallbewideenoughtohaveaminimumoverlapof20cm.at the level ofthe bottomoftherib-cage.
•Thesleevesofthejacketmustreachtothewrist joint atthe maximumand5 cmabovethewrist joint at theminimum.Aspaceof10-15cm.shallexistbetweenthesleeveandthearm,alongtheentire length ofthe sleeve.
•Thetrousersshallbelongenoughtocoverthelegsandshallatthemaximumreachtheanklejointandattheminimum5cm.abovetheanklejoint.Aspaceof10-15cm.shallexistbetweenthetrouserleg andthe leg alongthe entire length ofthetrouser leg.
•Thebeltisblack,4to5cmwideandlongenoughtogotwicearoundthewaistandleave20to30cmprotrudingfromeach side ofthe knotwhentied.
•FemalecompetitorsshallwearunderthejacketaplainwhiteT-shirt,withshortsleeves,ratherstrong,long enoughto beworn insidethetrousers.
•Zori or mulesare part ofthe uniform.
Acceptable markings:
•National emblemon left breast of jacket maximumsize100 cm2
•Manufacturer’strademarkonbottom-frontofthejacket,onbottomfrontoftheleftlegofthetrousers and onthe belt.Maximumsize20 cm2
•Shouldermarkingsfromcollar,acrossshoulderdownthearmonbothsidesofthe jacketwiththesame advertising or national colourson both sides.Maximumlength=25 cm–Maximumwidth5 cm.
HYGIENE:
•The judogi shall be clean, dryandwithout unpleasant odour.
•The nailsofthefeet and handsshall be cut short.
•The personal hygiene ofthe athletesshall be ofa high standard
•Long hair hasto be boundwith an elasticband.
•Spectacles, jewellerypiecesare prohibited.
•Make up isnot allowed.
1.8.RESPONSIBILITYOF THEFEDERATIONS
a.Medical certificate
The gender certificate andthe medical certificate ofthe participantsareto be collected by the concerned federations.The participantswill compete underthefullresponsibilityofthefederations.
b.Insurance
Eachnationalfederationisresponsibleforinsuringitscompetitorsagainst« injuryandthirdpart risk(publicliability)» duringthe period ofthe championships.
The JudoUnion ofAsia declinesallresponsibility.
c.Attitudeofthe competitors
Themember-federationsareresponsiblevis-à-vistheJUAconcerningthegeneral attitude oftheir competitors.

2.Judges
2.1.COMPETITIONFORMULA
EachKatawillbedividedintwogroups:thetopthreepairswiththemaximumpointsfromeachgroup(thatis6 pairsforeachkata)willcompeteinthefinals.Thefinalswillbedoneononemat.If the number of pairs is less than 10 ,there will be only one group and the top 6 pairs will compete in final and if the number of 8 pairs is less than 8 they compete in one round and the top 3 pairs are champion.ForeachKatathepairwiththemaximumpointswillbeawardedthegoldmedal,thecouplewiththesecondleastpointswillbeawardedthesilvermedal;andthethird, theBronzemedal.Alltheparticipantswillreceiveacertificateforparticipation.
2.2.POINTSYSTEM
EachjudgewillawardpointsontheofficialJUAscoringsheet.TheMaximumpointsandtheMinimumPoints awardedforeachtechnique(includedopenandcloseceremony)arecancelled andtheremainingthreeare totaledto getthefinal score.Eachtechnique isevaluatedwiththefollowing method:
Eachtechniqueandopenandclosingceremoniesareevaluatedwithamaximumpositive scoreof10points.
The positive score is decreased according to the following mistakes:
•Small:
OValue of mistake-1
OMaximumnumber of crosses-2
•Medium:
OValue of mistake-3
OMaximumnumber of crosses–1
•Big:
OValue of mistake-5
OMaximumnumber of crosses–1
OSmall andMediummistakescan be added if necessary
•ForgottenTechnique:
OScore ofthetechnique–0
OTotal score oftheKata ishalved
OIfthereismorethan1forgottentechnique,thescoreofthetechniqueis0butthetotalscorewillnot
be halved again.Ifthe halvedvalue isdecimal,the score isrounded down.
Aglobal evaluation of the Kata will be given from0 to 10accordingto:
Fluidity,Course andRhythm
Right and LefttechniquesforNageNoKatawill be evaluated globally(onlyone score) In case of equal score betweenthe pairs,thefollowing criteriawill be applied:
Totalvalue of big mistakes–winswho doeslessmistakes
Ifcouplesstill have equal score:
Totalvalue of mediummistakes–winswho doeslessmistakes
Ifcouplesstill have equal score:
Totalvalue of small mistakes–winswho doesless mistakes
Ifcouplesstill have equal score:
The score offluidity, course andrhythm will decide–winswho hasa better score
2.3.SYSTEMOF JUDGING
EachKata shall be evaluated byfive judgesunderthe supervision ofthe JUA KataCommission.
Thefive judgeswill be positioned ontheShomen side andtheywill seat at about1mdistance each other.
ThefivejudgeswillbepositionedonShomenside.Thepositionofthefivejudgeswillbethesameforallthecompetition.If one judge istemporaryreplaced, hewilltake place inthe same original positionwhen he
Re-entersthe competition. A Judge cannot be a competitor.
The judges shall always be in their position before the arrival of the couple in the competition area.
Thecoupleentersthecompetitionareaattheoppositesideofshomeninthecentre,and thenthey reachtheir corner.Thejudgeinthecentreatshomensidegetsupand,withtensearmsandpalmsofthehandsturnedupward, invitesthe coupleto enterthe competition area.Each competitorreachestheir position.
Afterthebow,attheendoftheKata,thecoupleleavesthecompetitionareawalkinguntiltheyreachthesame sidetheyentered.

2.4.COMPETITIONAREA
TheCompetitionareahasdimensions10x 10metersandshallbecoveredby Tatamisor similaracceptable material, generallygreen incolor.
TheCompetitionareamustbefixedtoaresilientfloor.Whenmoreadjoiningcompetitionareas areused,a common safetyarea of2metersisnecessary.
Astripofvisiblecoloradhesivetape,approximately 10cm.wideand50cm.long,shallbefixedonthecentre of thecompetitionarea6m. apart, to indicate the starting position of Tori and Uke. The centreofthe Competition area shall be indicatedwitha strip adhesivetape ofthe samecolor.
2.6LEVELOF THE JUDGES
Thecontestswillbejudgedby IJF/JUA qualifiedKataJudges.Katarulestobefollowedareaspublishedbythe
IJF.
2.7JUDGES PARTICIPATION
The number of judgesperfederation islimitedto: Participating countriesmayenter2 Judges.
Non participating countriesmayenter1 Judges.
The JUA KATACOMMISSION maydecide onthe number of Judgesaccordingtothe entries. The costsfortravelling, board and lodging ofthe judges are atthe costsofthe memberfederation.
2.8JUDGESSEMINAR
Therewill beaSeminarforthe official JudgesbeforetheChampionships.
2.9INJURY,ILLNESSandACCIDENT
WhenToriorUkeisunabletocontinuebecauseofinjury,illnessoraccidentduringtheexecutionoftheKata, the couplewill be considered out of competition.
In caseofMinorinjurylikebloodywound,brokennailoraproblemwithcontactlenses, accordingtothedecisionofthejudges,theKataexecutionwillbestoppedandtheathletewillbeassistedbyaDoctoroutofthecompetition area.
ThecompetitionwillcontinueandthecouplewillrepeatentirelytheKatasoonafterthe last calledcouple.In caseanewMinorinjuryhappensatthesameathletesduringthesecondexecutionofKata,thecouplewillbeconsidered out of competition.
In the case that Minor injury happens after a forgotten technique, the couple will be considered out ofcompetition.

3. CRITERIA FOR EXAMINATION:
♦1 Age: 35 to 65 years old (calendar year)
♦2 Dan: 2nd Dan minimum
♦3 Well knowledge of each kata
♦4 Practical ability of each kata
♦5 More than 5 years experience of teaching kata
♦6 Two (2) candidates per NF (In case one of them will be a woman, it is acceptable to be three (3) candidates. Also, hosting country will be accepted to add one more examinee.)
♦7 Approval by the President of the National Judo Federation/Association of the country in which thecandidate holds citizenship.
♦8 Application fees: US 150-dollars (It is possible to take up to 5 katas in once. No refund even ifexaminee fails.)
4. METHOD OF EXAMINATION:
♦1 Oral questions by English
♦2 Confirmation of Judging System by Practical exam with judo-gi (Please bring white judo-gi)
♦3 Exam of Scoring with video demonstration / Written Examination
5. HOSTING COUNTRIES FINANCIAL CONDITIONS:
♦1 Airfare: Participant’s airfare shall be paid by their National Federation/Association.
♦2 Domestic Transportation: Domestic transportation (from Airport to the Hotel and back) will be arranged by the host country.
♦3 Accommodation and meals: Accommodation and meals for participants shall be paid by their National Federation/Association.
♦4 Application fee: US50- dollars for Seminar per person and for examination US150- dollars additional per person
6. JUA KATA JUDGE LICENSE:
As the result of the examinations, after consultation with kata examiners, JUA-A or JUA-B licenses shall be granted to the passed examinees by JUA.
