Cost: Member rate for this conference is $135.00 prior to October 16th. After the 16th the amount goes to $175 and is due November6th. This covers the cost of the Hotel, speakers, debate materials, and the bus. A check made out to AHS or AHS JSA is due to me on or before October16th or November 6th.

In Case of Emergency: If you need to contact your child due to a family emergency, call them atMadison Concourse Hotel1.800.356.8293, or the State Capitol. Inform them your child is attending the Midwest Junior State Convention. There is a JSA staff member available day and night throughout the convention who will be able to assist you.

Departure Time & Location: Arrowhead High School, Saturday, November19that 7:30 a.m., North Campus Main Entrance.

Return Time & Location We will return at approximately 1:30 -2:30 p.m. to North Campus Main office. If there is a significant delay, we will have the students call you on the bus.

Convention Information & Location All Convention meetings will be at the State Capitol, except for Saturday evening activities which will be held at the Madison Concourse Hotel. Students are responsible for their own meals at area restaurants. After 8:00 p.m. Saturday all students and staff will remain in the Hotel until morning.

Meals: Meals are not provided in the convention fee. Students will have the opportunity to eat meals near the Capitol and State Street area. Students should bring sufficient money for meals. There is a variety of restaurants from fast food to pricey.

Dress: Students are to dress appropriately for the convention sessions. This means no T-shirts, sweatshirts or blue jeans. Casual dress may be worn in the evening session on Saturday and at the dance. STUDENTS WILL NOT HAVE A CHANCE TO CHANGE WHEN THEY ARRIVE, SO THEY NEED TO WEAR APPROPRIATE DRESS SATURDAY MORNING WHEN WE DEPART.

Valuables: AHS nor JSA assume any liability for loss or theft. Students should not bring expensive items.

What to Bring: The following is necessary: appropriate dress for Saturday and Sunday sessions, casual dress for Saturday evening, cold weather jacket or rain coat (WE HAVE A 5 BLOCK WALK BETWEEN THE HOTEL AND CAPTIOL), medication if needed, snacks & soda for the hotel room. Students should bring a pen and notebook for the sessions. ALL PERSONAL ITEMS SHOULD BE IN A SINGLE DUFFEL BAG OR SUIT CASE.

Parent Meeting– A mandatory fall state parent meeting will be held on November16th @6:00pm.

Requirements – Students must have attended at least two JSA meetings and or events.
