•Read aloud the story and pause at the 3 stopping points to check comprehension (use collaborative pairs) and model how to fill in the graphic organizer as appropriate. Before continuing to read, complete the “Stop and Think” question in the student book.

Assign the “Short Response” activity items from “Your Turn” for independent practice.
