Josu Ternera (head of ETA)

José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero (premier of Spain)

10th of august, the day after two police officers were

killed by the ETA organisation in Palmanova (Mallorca),

Josu Ternera, the head of ETA, comes to Madrid to talk to José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, the premier of Spain. He wants to show that ETA not only has the intentions to kill and fight against Spain. His aim is to debate the position of ETA and their

hope that the Basque region becomes an independence country, defined from Spain.

Sitting at the study of the prime minister of spain, waiting for the meeting, Josu Ternera gets frightened when the door is opened by a red headed J. Zapatero, shouting at his guest: “Tell me what’s on your mind when you tell your men to kill my officers? Does it make you happy? Is it that what you want?”, Ternera sits there not knowing what to say, he doesn’t anticipate this. Searching for words he starts to speak: “Look, we have fought for our independence for a long time and there has not been any reaction on your side, no cooperationat all!” Zapatero, by now sitting behind his desk, looks as if he didn’t understand what was said: “Dear Mr. Ternera, you haven’t got the right to demand that the Basque region is yours, we haven’t to owe you anything! The ETA terrorizes us without any right basements, and I will tell you something, when you don’t stop this at once, we will defend us on a way you wouldn’t like!” , “But what would you do if we started another attack on one of your men or buildings?”, ask Ternera. “Believe me, we have friends in the world and they would come for help faster than you could imagine. We help them and they help us! We’re brother in arms!”, answered Zapatero.

Ternera gets up and says during turning around: “Well, we will never have the same opinion about this theme! So I will go now and think about the situation!” He opens the door and leaves!

Standing at the window, J. Zapatero is watching the street, with its many cars, absolutely lost in thought: “What will happen next?”

(Everything what the two persons said was written and invented by myself and this meeting never had taken place. The whole text base upon my opinion.)
