Terms of Reference

Functions

  1. Represent the views and professional requirements of constituent stakeholders to advise the long term vision, strategy and annual business plans of SEMMED.
  2. Advise Strategic Health Authorities on workforce planning and development issues affected by or impacting upon the pharmacy workforce
  3. Advise the Strategic Health Authorities on wider workforce and staff development issues relating to prescribing and medicines management
  4. Oversee and monitor theSEMMED business plan objectives and receivean end of year report
  5. Work with SHA’s and LPG on workforce planning processes in relation to pharmacy.
  6. Jointly agree SEMMED proposals on behalf of Chief Pharmacists
  7. Provide feedback on SEMMED’s performance via end of year report
  8. Recommend areas of research and audit on matters relating to pharmacy workforce planning and development
  9. Advise on legal and professional obligations within service change that may impact on educational and developmental requirements for pharmacy
  10. Feedback discussions and decisions to representatives

If a member cannot attend, it is their responsibility to identify a deputy or alternative colleague to attend on their behalf. Any representatives missing more than 3 consecutive meetings, will be asked to stand down and alternative representation sought.

Members also have a responsibility to ensure that they are representing the views of their colleagues and feeding back JAG decisions. The means of achieving this should be recorded at the time of nomination.

3 per annum- December, May and September

1 SEMMED representative

1 acute trust representative

1 commissioner PCT representative

1 SHA representative (if only 1 SHA rep attends, a bullet list of critical points should be sent to the SHA not attending immediately following the meeting with points for action or decision)

If quorum is not met, the meeting will still continue and decisions agreed electronically
