  • Celebrations: Sarah thanked everyone for a very successful fundraiser.
  • Cindy Mahan reported on the book fair. Once again this was very successful. This is the 3rd fall in a row of sales over $5,000. Cindy thanked everyone for their help. She said it went very smoothly.
  • Sarah thanked Kate Harvie and all volunteers for a very successful parent teacher conference meal. This went very well and all of the teachers and staff were very appreciative of their meal.
  • Sarah wanted to again thank Katie Dunn for taking on the Backpack Aid program. This is a great program and we are very appreciative Katie has taken this on.
  • Cookie Dough from the fundraiser comes in Monday, November 9th at 9:30. Sarah is asking for volunteers to help with this. Parents are to pick cookie dough up between 10:30 and 12:30. There will be a reverse call going out on Monday morning. There will also be a flyer going home tomorrow, Thursday. Parents or an adult must pick dough up, it will not be sent home with students.
  • Boys 2 Men- Lucy reported the money has been given for this.
  • The new ball box for the playground has been purchased, assembled and put on playground.
  • The 4th grade curriculum has been purchased. The total amount spent was $4,764.70.
  • Applebee’s/Chili’s fundraiser- Marinda reported this was very successful. There was a huge turnout. Marinda should be getting a check from this any time now. She is still working on dates for Chili’s for this month.
  • Box Tops/Coke Rewards- Kate reported she received a check for $421. The teachers who won the contest are Churchill and Ganskow. The teachers who qualified for bonuses were: Obrien, Robuck, Head, Waldow, Wolfe, Riley, Ganskow, and Trujillo. Kate reported that Amy Bush’s mom is still entering the coke codes for us but the program has changed to where we now get cash instead of points. Jennifer Burris volunteered to make a flyer to educate everyone on the ongoing fundraisers, box tops, labels for education, Chili’s/Applebee’s, City Market, ink cartridges, coke rewards, Tyson, etc.
  • Budget- We made some changes to the budget because of money we have already spent this year. Due to purchasing the 4th grade curriculum, we had a negative balance in the small projects fund of -$2830.27. We had $2660 in technology. We voted to move that money to large projects to cover the negative balance. We did this because technology was our focus last year and at this time we do not need to make any purchases in the technology area. We also decided to take $170.27 out of the Box Tops fund to finish covering the negative balance in large project fund. We have a balance of $3580 for classroom budgets, we decided to take $20 from Box tops to make the amount in classroom budget to $3600. This was each teacher could get an even $150 for their classroom this year. We also decided to make a fund for “Administrative costs/flex fund. The money from our ongoing fundraisers, Applebee’s, Chili’s, etc, will go into this fund and we will use this for any administrative costs we might have, like shipping or T-shirts, etc. etc. Lucy will give us an updated budget at our next meeting.
  • Bullying Circle- Sherrie brought us a graph made by Barbara Coloroso showing the circle of bullying. The graph shows it isn’t just the person doing the bullying and the victim. It shows that in most cases, there are many people involved. Sherrie also reported to us that the bullying issue at JES has decreased significantly. They have only had two cases this school year so far.
  • Sarah told us that Katrina is stepping down as co vice president. Katrina moved to a different district and she is unable to continue to be VP. Sarah got her a card and a gift card to Target. We thanked her for all of her time and efforts the last few years to JES PTC.
  • Next meeting- Wednesday, December 2nd at 6 p.m.
