Salary:SCP 25-30 - £21,519 to £25,472 per annum prorata

Aims

To develop and deliver the People's Health Trust funded ‘Local Conversation’ in the Upper Afan Valley. To engage with and build the capacity of local residents in Cymmer, Gwynfi and Glyncorrwg to determine and design interventions that will improve their neighbourhood, social connections and change their local community for the better.

The development officer will build on existing work and develop new initiatives which bring about community cohesion, and increased aspiration and participation within the community of the Upper Afan Valley.

1.To provide development support to facilitate the involvement of local people in the Local Conversation in Upper AfanValley.

2.To provide capacity building and development support to the community panel, grants panel and all other mechanisms for collective control in order to ensure local people remain at the heart of the decision making process for the LocalConversation.

3.To continually engage the community to ensure that the agreed priorities in the Area Plan reflect the concerns and interests of localpeople.

4.To promote the Local Conversation in Upper Afan Valley and the work of Neath Port TalbotCVS.

5.To promote and ensure safe working practices in line with Health and Safetyrequirements.


Main Tasks

1.To facilitate and assist the involvement of local peoplein the Local Conversation in the Upper Afan Valleyarea.

Assist local people to engage with the Conversation, especially those whose voices are seldom heard.

Work with the Community Panel and Steering Groups to identify effective means to include local people in the Conversation on an ongoing basis.

Facilitate meetings, prepare agendas and take minutes of meetings.

Build effective relationships with community members and key individuals in the community.

Maintain professional standards at all times.

To provide development support to ensure that local people are involved in the decision making processes for the Local Conversation in the Upper Afan Valley.

2.To work with the community and identified organisations toensure the agreed priorities in the Area Plan reflect local people’s priorities.

Ensure that the Area Plan is implemented, reviewed and updated in accordance with the ethos of the Local Conversation.

Support the key anchor organisations to implement the agreed action plans.

3.To promote the work of Neath Port Talbot CVS and the Local Conversation in the Upper Afan Valley. To be aware of People’s Health Trust brandingguidelines related to promoting the Local Conversation.

Maintain a working knowledge of the range of support and information provided by People’s Health Trust and Neath Port Talbot CVS.

4.To promote and ensure safe working practices in line with Health and Safetyrequirements.

  • The post holder will be required to be flexible with the range ofduties undertaken to ensure that operational needs can be met. Any such flexibility will be consistent with the overall duties of the postholder.
