Job Title: Summer Student Position, Summer Camp Coordinator

Location:Glooscap First Nation, Hantsport, Nova Scotia

Job Type:37.5 hours per week (June, 4 2018 – August, 24 2018)

Salary: 13.00 per hour

The Summer Camp Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Administration and will be responsible for the following:

  1. Planning and coordinating summer camps for children (6 camps in total) for the summer months
  2. Work with Glooscap First Nation staff and outside stakeholders in coordinating appropriate activities.
  3. Administrative duties such as developing and ensuring parents have signed off on liability waiver, tracking how many children will attend, daily incident reporting,
  4. Develop a budget for the summer camps.
  5. Supervise (with assistance from the NEO) the three summer camp staff.
  6. Working with staff to incorporate community programing into the camp schedule.
  7. Develop promotional materials for the camps.
  8. Other duties associated with coordinating and conducting the summer camps.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Must be attending post-secondary in fall 2018, 18 years of age or olderand member of Glooscap First Nation.
  • First Aid and CPR training would be an asset.

Required Knowledge:

  • Computer hardware/software knowledge. (MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Supervisory and budgetary experience is an asset.

Skills/Abilities

•Excellent oral and written communication skills and must be highly organized and able to work with minimal supervision.

•Must be capable of working independently and with a team.

•Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and public relation skills.

•Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

•Ability to develop reports for Council and government agencies.
