Job Summary

To be responsible for delivering good quality service provision to the individuals through supported tenancies and our home support service within the Harrogate and Knaresborough. Whilst taking the lead as a good practice and compliance monitoring mentor.

The post holder will take the lead role in supporting the Manager / Deputy in the efficient running of the service:

Main Duties:

The post holder will take the lead role in supporting the Manager / Deputy in:

  • Ensuring services provided are effective, efficient and delivered to a high standard
  • Maintaining appropriate, clear and accurate systems of recording, reporting and quality control
  • Working alongside the Deputy Managerin carrying out staff inductions and other relevant training and assisting in interviews where necessary
  • Organising shift cover to meet service needs
  • Mentoring supply, agency workers and volunteers in the workplace
  • A willingness to work towards a Diploma in Health and Social Care – level 3
  • To take a lead role for new staff and apprentices ensuring that induction paperwork is completed in a timely fashion.
  • To carry out spot checks across the service to ensure that quality service is being delivered in all areas.
  • To conduct informal face to face meetings with staff to discuss any concerns / issues they may have, and in turn feeding back necessary information to the office.
  • To monitor and observe staff performance whilst on duty, dealing with any concerns as they arise. Liaising with the Manager/ deputy advising of concerns as they arise.
  • To ensure that all files are kept up to date and stationary is available within all services
  • To liaise with manager / deputy on the effectiveness of in house timetables / procedures ensuring that they are kept up to date and amended ensuring service user is involved at each stage.
  • To assist with conducting monthly audits across the service

  • To provide a flexible service to service users as necessary to promote their independence and dignity.
  • To assist service users in any way which promotes their choice, independence, dignity, privacy, self-esteem, personal development and learning needs.
  • To develop opportunities for service users to acquire new skills and develop existing ones.
  • To develop opportunities for service users to be actively involved in the local community and to develop relationships and interests, as they desire.

Service Management:

  • To promote respect for service users, their families, friends and advocates throughout the Society and in all dealings with other agencies.
  • To implement arrangements for the security, health and safety of the service users and staff.
  • To notify the Harrogate Home Support office of any defects in the buildings or any repairs required.
  • To shop and provide meals with and for service users in line with the service users plan of support.
  • Contribute to the housekeeping and administration of the house including assistance with the management of finances.
  • To report all accidents and incidents to theHarrogate Home Support office and completing relevant paperwork as required.
  • Team Working:
  • To attend staff meetings and training sessions and to be involved in the decision making processes within the service.
  • To co-operate in the operation of the rota system, providing sleep in cover when required. To form part of the Oncall service ensuring that 24 hour emergency cover is provided. Liaising with the Harrogate Home support office advising of any issues arising.
  • Due to the nature of the service, there may be times where you are lone working. However, there will always be a member of senior staff on call who can be contacted for advice, support or assistance.

Assistance to Service Users:

  • To assist the staff team with the development of individual service plans for service users and attend their reviews.
  • To support the service users in the assessment of their needs.
  • To liaise with funding authorities, health and social services and other agencies as appropriate, with and on behalf of service users.
  • To liaise with day centres, community and advocacy services and other agencies as appropriate, with and on behalf of service users.
  • To cater to the physical, social and emotional needs of the service users.
  • To have specific keyworker responsibility to one or more of the service users.
  • To be responsible for dispensing medication to service users.
  • To enable service users to plan and take holidays.
