Job Title: Trainer Facilitator

Responsible to: Training Manager

Grade salary range: £27,274 – £29,924 per annum, pro rata

4 days per week, fixed term to December 2017 (possibility to extend)

Overall Purpose of the post: TheTrainer Facilitator position is part of a team of six staff, and is responsible for development andday to day delivery of a range of UK based assessment and training events

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Delivering scheduled assessment and training events for both ICS and expedition programmes – ensuring all Raleigh policies are adhered to on UK events delivered directly. Accountable for Health and Safety of all participants in attendance, including appropriate risk assessment and contingency planning for each event.
  • Preparing all necessary resources and equipment for scheduled events
  • Carrying out accurate reporting and evaluation of assessment and training events, as well as on budgets, team objectives, volunteer feedback, and other administration processes
  • To lead on the development of Raleigh’s Team Leader (ICS) and Development weekend (Volunteer Manager expedition) training programmes
  • To lead on the development and implementation of the Leadership online learning programmes

Other:

  • To undertake other duties as required by the Training Manager
  • To support the organisation of any internal Raleigh training sessions / courses
  • To maintain confidentiality over personal information relating to Raleigh staff, partners and clients
  • To liaise with external companies, organisations and/or key workers with respect to training & development opportunities, maintaining existing partnerships and maintaining best Youth Work practice
  • Supervise and facilitate end of assessment day discussions on a rota basis

Person specification

Essential

  • To be passionate about Raleigh International's aims and ethos
  • Well developed and proven ability to facilitatehigh impact, engaging training sessions to a variety of audiences
  • Experience delivering personal development, teambuilding, leadership, and cross-cultural awareness training
  • Experience of developing training content, particular in the area of Leadership & Coaching
  • Proven volunteer staff / alumni management experience
  • Ability to manage large numbers of people in remote locations in the UK
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of young people aged 16 – 25
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and logistical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic and energetic personality with a 'can do' attitude
  • Ability to work independently on projects, taking initiative when required
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise a heavy workload
  • Flexible approach to the hours worked to meet the demands of the role, including weekends and evenings
  • First aid qualified to a minimum equivalent level of HSE FA at work (training supplied)

Desirable

  • Experience delivering youth development programmes for young people with fewer opportunities
  • Previous overseas Raleigh International or ICS programme experience at Volunteer Leader level, or equivalent
  • Knowledgeable about global development issues, specifically in relation to youth volunteering
  • Current enhanced DBS check clearance

Other Information

This post is 4 days per week, but flexibility will be required for which days these will be at various points through the training cycle, to ensure weekend events are staffed effectively.

The Trainer Facilitator will be expected to work between 18 and 22 weekend residential events per year. National travel may be required.

The holiday entitlement for full-time staff is 25 working days per year, plus 8 public holidays. Part-time staff receive a pro-rated entitlement.

Normal office hours are Monday to Friday, 9.00 am - 5.00 pm though staff can vary their start and finish times between 8.00 am – 4.00 pm and 10.00 am – 6.00 pm, although weekend, early morning and evening working required, particularly to liaise with countries globally.
