Job Purpose:

To develop and deliver bespoke family support for women andchildren experiencing, escaping and recovering from domestic abuse; in particular to support these families in re-settling in a new home and community. Home based support needs to assist each family member in

  • getting over their particular experience of Domestic Abuse;
  • finding ways of settling in, making new friends and coping with their new experiences;
  • taking up and accessing specialist support services;
  • developing problem solving and coping strategies, both in terms of practical problems as well as dealing with their emotions

Main Areas of Responsibility

In order to further the aims of Paws for Kids Endeavour Project for families who experience Domestic Abuse, the predominant tasks for the Domestic Abuse Outreach worker are to:.

  1. Implement an individualised package of support to suit each family in their particular situation. This will involve an understanding of the need for a degree of flexibility in working methods.

Such a package of support will include:

  • Establishing a positive relationship and rapport with the family;
  • Encouraging and involving each family member in defining their needs and priorities to be addressed;
  • Designing a programme of action, coaching and activities to raise confidence and meet individual needs.
  • Set up and coordinate peer support groups
  • As part of a team,devise and deliver a programme of group work to meet the needs of families referred to the project.
  • Identify, liase and provide advocacy support to help family access other appropriate service providers;
  • Impart and develop skills for managing independently.
  1. To work in partnership with referring agencies providing regular feedback on individuals progress.
  2. To be responsible for ensuring that all procedures relating to the Endeavour Project are fully understood and implemented – particularly in terms of Child Protection.
  1. Monitoring: to be responsible for administering the case work & and daily updates of Endeavour’s data base; working with the Operations Manager with the results of any evaluation to develop and improve the service provided.
  1. Future Developmental Work: to work in conjunction with the Director of Services, Operations Managerand the Board of Trustees to progress the development of Endeavours Safe Haven Project in line with the organisation’s plans.This work will focus on the long-term strategy of delivering a direct service to survivors of Domestic Abuse and will maximise funding opportunities as identified.

Other Tasks:

  1. Liaison: to liaise closely with the Director of Services, Operations Managerand the Board of Trustees regarding the work and development of Endeavours Safe Haven Project; to liase with allrelevant agencies professionally with regards to the project and to promote the work of Paws for Kids Endeavour Projects.
  1. To assist with undertaking talks and presentations to local groups and agencies on the work of Safe Haven and Domestic Abuse issues generally
  1. To implement and abide by all policies and procedures, including procedures and policies of partner agencies.
  1. To work closely as a team with other staff members, and to provide cover for sickness/annual leave as directed by the Director of Services.
  1. To undertake any other tasks and responsibilities as deemed necessary by The Director of Services, Operations Manager Board of Trustees.
