Job Title:Teaching Associate in Dietetics & Nutrition

Salary:£28,695-£37,394per annum, depending on skills and experience.

Hours of Work:Part-time – 15 hours per week

Location:Sutton Bonington Campus

Reporting to:Head of Division of Nutritional Sciences

Purpose of the Role:

The School offers a four year integrated undergraduate Master’s degree in Dietetics and Nutrition (MNutr) leading to eligibility to apply for registration in dietetics with the Health Care Professions Council. We also offer a range of “Learning Beyond Registration” modules for registered Dietitians and an MSc in Advanced Dietetic Practice.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching and related administration of a number of modules within the above programmes.

The post holder will also be required to make an appropriate contribution to administration.

Main Responsibilities
1. / Teaching:
To teach and examine undergraduate students, including those on the 4yr Master of Dietetics and Nutrition (MNutr, leading to eligibility to apply for registration as a Dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council).
To teach and assess postgraduate students undertaking Learning Beyond Registration Modules.
2. / Administration:
  • To act as a personal/placement tutor for both undergraduate and postgraduate students as required
  • To take part in and contribute to staff development activities consistent with continuous professional development.
  • To ensure compliance with health and safety requirements in all aspects of work.
  • To undertake administrative work/management functions and generally to assist with efficient and effective completion of the work of the School and the University. This may include participation in relevant committees and working groups.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the grade and role of the person appointed.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential / Desirable
Qualifications/ Education /
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Dietetics.
  • Registered Dietitian (or eligibility for registration) with UK Health & Care Professions Council

Skills/Training /
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Proven ability to support students in an academic/clinical setting

Experience /
  • Recent experience of working as a Dietitian.

Statutory/Legal /
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks.
  • Ability to deliver teaching programme and flexibility to collaborate with colleagues.
  • Ability to work well in a team.

Decision Making

i)Taken independently by the role holder;

The delivery of teaching on various modules

ii)Taken in collaboration with others;

  • Changes in structure of pre and post –registration dietetic programmes

iii)Referred to the appropriate line manager by the role holder;

  • Any items implying changes in Division of Nutritional Sciences/School of Biosciences
