JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:Stock/Customer ServicesAssistant

REPORTS TO:Shop Manager

PURPOSE OF JOB

The main purpose of the role is to provide stock control support. Other key duties will be to provide the team with support in customer service roles and assist in organizing external and internal events.

All employees are expected to promote and develop play and the creative re use and recycling of waste materials in accordance with the aims and policies of Children’s Scrapstore.

Key Responsibilities

Stock

  • To ensure the stock is booked in promptly and correctly.
  • Maintenance of the EPOS database.
  • Coordinate and perform regular stock checks.
  • Lead on the annual stock take.
  • Ensure stock is priced correctly, and correct margin is achieved.
  • Work with the team to ensure that stock purchasing does not exceed budget.
  • Report and claim back damages and shortages.

Customer service

  • Work behind the till serving customers promptly and courteously
  • Ensuring the shop is well stocked in a neat and tidy manner.
  • complete monetary transactions in compliance with finance procedures.
  • Identify new product ideas through customer requests and feedback.
  • Ensure that stock rooms are kept clean, tidy and free of hazards and that emergency lanes and exits are kept clear.
  • Hold knowledge of Scrapstore’s procedures and sales policies and practices.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, meeting their needs wherever possible, setting good examples to other staff.
  • Actively promote the Scrapstore, its facilities and services, ensuring good knowledge of scheduled events and promotions.
  • Deal swiftly and diplomatically with customer complaints, bringing about a satisfactory resolution with recourse to the Shop Manager if necessary.
  • Deal with customer enquiries assisting and advising with purchases where required.
  • Ensure that members sign in and comply with membership rules.
  • Enroll and renew membership in compliance with documenting procedures.
  • Answer the telephone and deal with enquiries, referring calls appropriately.

Events

  • Liaising with customers and third parties in the booking and delivery of events
  • Assisting in the preparation and planning of events
  • Budgeting and costing of events
  • Looking at opportunities to increase income at events
  • Attendance at evening events to promote The Art Shop

General

  • Work within the procedures and policies laid out by Children’s Scrapstore.
  • Ensure that all equipment in reception is properly used, is in good working order.
  • Take part in general housekeeping duties, answering telephones, covering sickness, holidays and other common tasks.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute accordingly when required.
  • Undertake one off or additional tasks, attend events or help out with other customer facing areas as may from time to time be required for the effective running and promotion of the business / charity.
  • Ensure premises are left safe and secure before leaving.
  • You may be asked to run craft sessions.
  • Ensure you are wearing your uniform and are dressed appropriately to greet our customers.
