Job Title: Staff Accountant - Sales Tax Date: 2/14

Job Summary

Performs various accounting and analytical duties related to state and local tax compliance, providing research support for various internal departments responsible for administering and collecting sales and use tax. Perform other related work.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

·  Provides assistance in meeting reporting due dates for all retail locations.

·  Prepares documents to comply with state and local sales and use tax reporting requirements.

·  Maintains working knowledge of ongoing state and local tax law changes and provides updates to internal departments on applicable laws.

·  Reconciles sales/use tax related liability accounts and prepares monthly journal entries.

·  Provide audit support for state sales/use tax audits and other inquiries from taxing authorities.

·  Special projects as required to obtain refunds on over-accrual of tax

·  Performs all job duties and responsibilities with honesty and integrity.

·  Performs other duties as assigned or needed

Requirements

Education:

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience in a financial account or staff accountant role demonstrating considerable knowledge of financial accounting in addition to the experience required below.

Experience:

·  At least two (2) years in a position demonstrating advanced skills using Microsoft Excel.

·  At least two (2) years in a position with primary responsibility interpreting and analyzing statistical and financial information, applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.

·  Applying extensive knowledge of state, and local tax laws.

·  Utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills dealing with a variety of tax and business scenarios with close attention to detail.

·  Effectively prioritizing and performing a variety of simultaneous tasks (multi-tasking) in a high-pressure environment, demonstrating initiative and self-direction to complete projects within expected deadlines or defined time estimates.

·  Demonstrating proficiency with numerical data and calculations.

·  Demonstrating initiative and self-direction to perform a variety of simultaneous skills (multi-tasking).

·  Demonstrating proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software with a strong emphasis in excel functions.

·  Utilizing excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills to establish and maintain a good rapport with co-workers, Supervisors, store personnel and vendors.

·  Must be dependable and demonstrate initiative.

Ability to:

Machines and Equipment Operated:

·  Office machines (computer terminal, copier/scanner, 10-key, fax machine, telephone, etc)

Preferred Credentials:

·  Financial reporting and general ledger accounting experience preferred

·  Experience with business intelligence software

·  Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

·  Applying extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws.
