Questions and Answers:
Items:
1. I count 62 total donor elements. Should all 62 be installed now? If so, I assume they should be removable (epoxy anchor studs with washers/nuts) so potential donor names can be engraved later?
Answer: There are 100 elements total. 100 will be purchased with this contract and 40 will be installed at time of substantial completion. It would be helpful to have a ground-mounting detail that would allow the donor leaves to be removable. Yes, we can look at this attachment method.
2. Typically, powder coating is not applied to stainless steel. Powder coating has a 10-year life verses a 50-year life with stainless steel. Please confirm stainless steel is required.
Answer: Stainless steel is not required. Presume aluminum construction of the leaves and an automotive painting process to result in an aged metal faux finish. The painting process will include 3 layers of automotive grade paint (Matthews Paint is what we have used in the past) and a UV clear coat. The Contractor will provide 5 large format paint finish samples (1’x1’) to choose from based on Pure + FreeForm finish samples (“Deco Bronze” BT-005, “Mature Red”, “Mature Bronze” #VL118, “Parisian Rust”#SQ-008). The contractor will then provide 3 additional samples based on owner comments on first set of samples.
3. Four continuous footings may be less expensive than 62 individual bases. Would you except an alternate price for continuous footings? This could give you more flexibility in the future as well.
Answer: Please provide alternate price for continuous footings.
