Job Title: Senior Officer: Creative Solutions for Independent Living Skills

Responsible To:Head of School: Foundation Adult and Community Learning

Job Purpose:To develop a structured programme for students to improve their employability skills through curriculum activity, meaningful work experience, internships and volunteering opportunities.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. To identify and reduce the barriers that impact on student progression routes to employment;
  1. To support students to produce individual Passports to Employment which will include a person centred Employability Development Plan;
  1. To increase the number of students entering employment by maximising the use of labour market information tools and local intelligence;
  1. To increase the number of students participating in volunteering, work placement, and internship opportunities;
  1. To establish and administer a multi-agency Passport to Employability steering group to report to the Student Management Group;
  1. To work with internal and external partners to establish a data base of employers that will complement the needs of individual students so they can maximize their employment potential;
  1. To engage employment support specialists to participate with the project;
  1. To work with community and voluntary groups to extend student learning outside of the College so they can make positive contributions to the wider community;
  1. To design and deliver a programme of Passport to Employability activities such as enterprise events, workplace visits and ALN awareness raising sessions for employers;
  1. To develop systems and processes that will contribute to the long term sustainability of the project activities and student outcomes;
  1. To monitor and evaluate project activity and outcomes and completing the required reports and returns for the College and the Welsh Government;
  1. To be responsible for monitoring project spend;
  1. To work closely with FE colleges who are piloting similar Creative Solutions Funded projects to identify good practice and ways to sustain and embed activities.
