Job Title: Regional Fundraiser

  1. Main Purpose of Job
  • To drive income and achieve targets by increasing profile and support in an assigned geographical patch. To develop and implement a local plan that demonstrates how to deliver the regional strategy and maximise opportunities that have been identified.
  1. Position in Organisation
  • Reports to the Regional Fundraising Manager
  • No direct reports - volunteers
  • Internal Contacts: local fundraising, retail and healthcare team, events fundraising team, other fundraising colleagues, other cross-directorate colleagues and volunteers
  • External Contacts: existing supporters, volunteers
  1. Scope of Job
  • Delivery of own financial budget and non financial targets.
  • Management of volunteers and fundraising groups in own patch.
  • Raising the profile and awareness of Sue Ryder in own patch
  1. Dimensions and Limits of Authority
  • Has no authority to make variations or propose salary changes
  • Cannot dismiss/recruit
  1. Qualifications
  • (Minimum of Level 6) O-Level standard or GCSE grades A-C or Scottish Standard grades including English & Maths. Secretarial training and qualifications. Training to City and Guilds, basic level (NVQ2)
  1. Experience & Skills
  • Experience of financial management and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels using a variety of communication methods.
  • A thorough knowledge of tax efficient giving
  • Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers
  • Strong fundraiser who can deliver against targets.
  • Ability to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills

Special conditions

  • Ability to work in the evenings and at weekends.
  • Willingness to travel locally and nationally
  • Access to a car and full driving license

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and deliver a robust, innovative area action plan in line with the regional and national strategy and set challenging and realistic budgets and targets for their area.
  2. To recruit new supporters and develop relationships with existing supporters identifying key local supporters and those with influence in the community.
  3. Deliver financial and non-financial targets, delivered through the network of local supporters and volunteers.
  4. Work closely with retail and healthcare teams to ensure all networks are explored and all fundraising is maximised for Sue Ryder
  5. Increase awareness of Sue Ryder’s work through various communication channels and ensure awareness campaigns are targeted to the areas with greatest potentialincluding website and social media
  6. Recruit, manage, retain and develop a network of volunteers; individuals, groups and companies to help deliver targets and objectives.maximising opportunities to raise funds and ensuring long term sustainable income
  7. Responsibility for legacy promotions in the local area working closely with the Legacy Team to ensure legacy enquiries and notifications increase
  8. Responsibility for local media relations and PR to support fundraising activities.
