PURPOSE AND FUNCTION OF THE POST:

The postholder will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties across the facilities which together will ensure that a high quality leisure experience is offered to our customers.

The main duties will include general supervision of the facilities, acting as a recreation assistant, undertakingreception duties, erection and dismantling of equipment and general housekeeping tasks both indoors and outdoors.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Principal Duties and Tasks

  1. Perform any duties which ensure that the programme of activities within the facilities operates smoothly, efficiently and safely and in the best interests of the user.
  1. Perform all duties in a manner which ensures that a high standard of customer care is achieved at all times.
  1. Supervise all indoor and outdoor areas as required to ensure that the facilities operate safely and efficiently.
  1. Directly participate in the delivery of the facilities activities as and where required and appropriate to the individual’s training and qualifications. The post holder will be required to use as required any skills or qualifications that were relied upon to secure their appointment.
  1. Undertake administration/reception duties and cash handling duties associated with the post.
  1. Act as a steward, attendant and any other related duties during events or courses being held at the location
  1. Perform all duties in accordance with the agreed policies and operating procedures for the facilities.
  1. Act as an authorised officer of the Council under Clean Neighbourhoods and Environments Actand ensure public using the facility do not breach same act.Advise and assist the public on areas permitted/prohibited for dog walking and control any misuse.
  1. Undertake any duties required to ensure that the highest possible level of cleanliness is maintained throughout the facilities at all times.
  1. Supervise children’s birthday parties and act as a party host as required
  1. Undertake any training that is required to ensure that a high level of service delivery is maintained at all times.
  1. Actively promote the facility and all its services in a positive manner at all times.
  1. Provide reports in relation to incidents and accidents.
  1. Carry out simple maintenance tasks including operation of relevant plant and machinery and their controls.
  1. Respond to change in trends and practices within the industry to ensure that the expectations of the customer are fulfilled and their experiences positive.
  1. Assist with the maintenance of any applicable quality awards.
  1. Ensure compliance with the Council’s policies and procedures, relevant legislation and Health and Safety guidelines.
  1. Be prepared on occasion, if required, to work at other facilities under the control of the Council.
  1. Any other duties as may be allocated and appropriate to the post’s grade, including interchange of duties to cover for leave, sickness, employee vacancies etc. and working within other sections of the Community and Wellbeing Department or the Council.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria

Applicants must be able to demonstrate they have experience of cash handling and keeping simple records. Previous experience of cleaning in a public building is essential. Applicants must be prepared to work on a rota system which can include days, evenings, weekends (Sat & Sun) and public holidays. Applicants must consent to a pre-employment Access NI check.

Desirable Criteria

It is desirable that applicants hold any of the following:-

  • Previous experience in the leisure industry
  • Hold a recognised First Aid qualification
  • Hold a customer care or Welcome Host certificate
  • Hold a recognised academic qualification associated with the leisure industry
  • Hold a recognised qualification in IT e.g. CLAIT II or ECDL
  • Previous experience of reception duties within a similar environment
  • Recognised sports specific coaching qualification
