Job Title: Property Manager/Gamekeeper - Cobourg, ON

A seasoned professional, hands-on Property Manager/Gamekeeper with expertise in all aspects of game keeping, agriculture, horticulture, construction, farm equipment repair/management, household repairs is sought for a private family with a unique property in Baltimore (10 mins East of Cobourg). A gracious home more than 10,000 sq. ft. and sits on 400 acres of meticulously country grounds. Large growth trees, wild life and lush lawns surround the property which includes farm lands, livestock and ponds. Facilities include outdoor living areas, separate pool house, large commercial pool house kitchen for entertaining, 60 ft. by 25 ft. swimming pool sized swimming pool and rec room. The principals are very private, active hunters, travel frequently and entertain often (hunts). The candidate must have an impressive knowledge of all things related to maintaining a private estate as well as other properties (as appropriate). The candidate must have a wide practical knowledge and firm understanding of how moving parts fits together, can prioritize, manage time, be discreet, tidy, perfectionist with a great positive attitude. These skills should be brought together with the attitude and disposition of a true professional.

Requirements:

•Passion and interests; the ideal candidate will be passionate about a career in creating and serving a unique and exclusive employer/clientele as a right-hand support, confidant and caretaker of their private estate(s), friends and clients. They are comfortable in all aspects of understanding the unique and discerning needs of a private estate. They are comfortable in all aspects of property management; maintenance, security, management operations, logistics of a private family estate and hunting preserve

•Experienced in all aspects of agriculture, game keeping and VIP hospitality

•Effective and articulate communication skills, both written and verbal, fluent in English, with French and additional languages a benefit

•Experienced and/or certified in the following skills: construction, carpentry, wood working, electrical, plumbing, welding, mechanical engineering, heavy equipment, farm machinery, predator management, game keeping, trapping, meat handling, agricultural and animal husbandry.

•Experienced and comfortable with different classes of clientele from senior executives and VIP to support staff.

•Organized, productive and efficient able to prioritize and be intuitive proactive and responsible

•Discretion, and poise are musts – you will often be required to host events for VIP’s, support and serve a private family who value their privacy and confidentiality

•Comfortable and confident working in a relatively unsupervised environment where intuition, initiative and proactivity are valued

•Proactive; able to identify problems at an early state and resolve them directly

•Computer savvy with proficiency in both MAC and PC systems

•Clean driver’s license

•Experienced and comfortable working single handed as well as managing staff

The candidate should posses skills in:

Property Management

•Maintenance of all systems on the property including:

•Water systems

•Electrical systems

•Heating systems

•Construction, carpentry and building repairs (repairs, painting, drywall, tile etc.)

•Organize and conduct landscaping activities; hedge cutting, trimming and grass cutting to snow removal

•Cutting, splitting and delivering wood to main house

•Build new ponds, clear and keep trails in great conditions

•Oversight of maintenance related to the barns, pastures and grounds

•Operation, maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles such as tractors, skid steers

•Opening, cleaning and closing of pool

•Woodworking skills required - Woodworking shop with tools will be provided

•Building, maintenance and upkeep of estate

•General farm labor

•Liaise with other staff as needed

Game Keeping

•Rearing of game birds, wild (and domestic) birds and any other animal Principals will bring on

•Feeding livestock; turning in/out; cleaning stalls; and barn maintenance

•Organizing shoot days and hunting activities including running beat lines and picker-ups

•Maintenance and repair of vehicles

•Organize and run trapping and vermin control in accordance to Ontario Law

•Organize placement and seeding of cover crops

•Nutrition for animals (wild and domestic)

•Improve shooting and stalking through enrichment of environment

•Maintain and build on existing pens for domestic animals

Feeding, watering of all animals (including deer), dog handling and training: pointing, flushing and retrieving dogs; Daily walks, rearing care for and training of hunting dogs

•Predator management: trapping license a benefit

•Meat handlers certificate

Forestry, Agriculture & Horticulture

•Responsible for the management, growth and enrichment of woodlot

•General farming and agriculture background

•Experience with cultivation and management of gardens

•Gather eggs from barn daily

•Planning, purchasing, planting, irrigation, spraying, harvesting and record-keeping of crops

• Coordinate growing activities of crops in pasture

•Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.

•Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations

•Confer with Principals to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment

•Hire, discharge workers, enforce safety regulations, and implement policy standards

•Record information such as production, farm management practices, and research notes

•Maintain in a proactive manner all facilities including the residence
