General Description

To work as part of a team to support the needs of people who are homeless, and with other secondary support needs such as alcohol/substance misuse, mental health, learning difficultiesetc. to work towards independence.

The successful candidate must have the ability to work as part of a team, the ability to learn new skills and the desire, patience, persistence and empathy to work with people who are at crisis point.

QUALITIES / ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
EXPERIENCE /
  • Experience of providing support to vulnerable people
  • Experience of assessing and supporting clients who are facing multiple disadvantage.
  • Experience of offering practical support of helping people to maximise their finances, including working knowledge of DWP.
  • Recent experience of organising, delivering and evaluating workshops and activities.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced team, being flexible and supportive to colleagues.

  • Experience of working with homeless or other vulnerable people.
  • Relevant experience of supporting people to achieve their goals
  • Experience of rent collection and creating repayment plans.
  • Experience of safe working practices when off site.
  • Experience of team/group leadership with regards to working with client groups who have diverse support needs.
  • Experience of using a database and data collection.

SKILLS /
  • Can demonstrate empathy whilst maintaining healthy boundaries.
  • Able to be flexible in their approach to communication with a wide range of people.
  • Can clearly communicate with others so they can understand how to perform routine everyday tasks.
  • Excellent command of the English language (oral and written).
  • Practical knowledge of IT including Word, Excel and email.
  • Ability to be flexible regarding working hours as some early morning/evening/weekend work may be required.
  • Ability to think creatively and adapt service delivery to meet the client’s needs.
  • Ability to work with clients either in a 1-2-1 setting or in a group setting.
  • Ability to motivate individuals to attend workshops and activities aimed at increasing skills and increasing self-esteem and confidence.
  • Can work in an organised and structured manner in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability tosupport clients who are in emotional distress and who require varying levels of support in a calm manner.
