Home Learning Project

Date Set: Friday 23rd OctoberDate Due: Tuesday 3rd November

After half term we will be starting our new project called Through the Keyhole. This project will start by us focusing on the Great Fire of London. It would be great if you could come back to school already knowing some facts about the fire! Please complete the activity below. Please then chose from one (or more) of the 4 options at the bottom of the page.

Can I research information about the Great Fire of London?
Success Criteria:
  • I can look in books for information (you may choose to visit the library).
  • I can research on the internet.
  • I can look at pictures of the fire and discuss them.
  • I can talk to members of my family to find out what they know.

Option 1
Can I make a model house from 1666?
Success Criteria
  • I can find pictures of stuart houses
  • I can talk about what I can see in the picture
  • I can use a box, paint, colouring pencils etc to create a model of the house.

Can I make a information book about the Great Fire of London?
Success Criteria
  • I can research facts as above.
  • I can draw/print pictures of the fire.
  • I can write the information I have found out using my always success criteria (capital letters, finger spaces, full stops, robot arms)

Option 3
Can I make a map of London to show where the fire started and spread to?
Success Criteria
  • Research where the fire started.
  • Draw a map of london in 1666.
  • Label the map.
  • Colour in the area that the fire spread to.

Can I make a fact file about Samuel Pepys?
Success Criteria
  • Research Samuel Pepys
  • Draw/print a picture of him.
  • Write facts you have learnt about his involvement in the fire.

Remember to bring your home learning into school on Tuesday 3rd November. We will be joining together in a circle to share homework. The children will get to talk about their work with the rest of their class and their class teacher. What a great way to start our new project!
