Citizens Online is a national charity that promotes access to information and communication technology (ICT) particularly for people digitally excluded for social or economic reasons. Get IT Together is a ground breaking project which helps communities overcome barriers to technology and understand the benefits to their lives.

Get IT Together Rhondda Cynon Taf is a partnership between Citizens Online, BT (as part of their Get IT Together programme), the Nominet Trust, Communities2.0 and Rhondda Cynon Taf council.

This role is for a dynamic individual who will respond to this exciting challenge to coordinate and deliver digital inclusion and activities in Rhondda Cynon Taf. The project will focus on increasing both access and uptake, by raising awareness of how ICT/internet can be used to deliver social and economic benefit to connected communities across Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The Coordinator’s role is to use strategic, tactical and operational approaches to cohere support for benefits of ICT/internet usage. This will involve working with partners at all levels from such as community groups and education providers, to deliver a bespoke combination of activities relevant to local need. The project has a particular focus on supporting a network of young volunteers, to act as digital champions for older people who are not online, whilst supporting the young people to develop employability skills.

You don’t have to be a technical expert. More important to us is your understanding of information and communication technology in its wider context, and its relevance to social inclusion. Ideally you will have experience of delivering informal ICT sessions.

You will already have some experience in community based work and be a confident user of computers and the Internet.
