JOB TITLE: Outreach Lead, CalFresh (CFO)

REPORTS TO:Manager of Community and Parish Services

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:Non-exempt

TIME COMMITMENT:Full-time, 40 hours per week

SALARY:Commensurate with Experience

Position Summary

The Outreach Lead will lead Catholic Charities’ efforts to increase community literacy of the CalFresh nutrition assistance program. This position will work with the Community and Parish Services Manager and other team members to conduct outreach and education activities about CalFresh while promoting a culture of healthy eating and motivating participants to take action and enroll. The Outreach & Education Lead travels throughout six Northern California counties to deliver program content. The position collaborates with AmeriCorps members to support the recruitment, training, and creation of supportive volunteers working relationships.

Supervisorial Responsibilities:Up to 10 volunteers

Essential Functions

1.Successfully execute the goals and develop a functional expertise of the funding requirements by doing the following:

  1. Perform direct service in the community to educate and assess eligibility.
  2. Act as a public representative to the community for Catholic Charities in the service of programs provided to clients.
  3. Work with the Department Manager and other team members to develop an infrastructure to deliver CFO and other community resources to congregations and other community groups.
  4. Develop and implement a plan for achieving the program goals in accordance with the established activity schedule.
  5. Partner with AmeriCorps VIP to recruit, train, schedule, and provide guidance a team of community-based volunteers to accomplish the program goals.

2.Gain certifications as required by completing the assigned trainings and successfully passing required examinations.

3.Partners and collaborates with volunteers and staff to ensure the program deliverables are met on a daily basis.

4.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CFO best practices and participate in the statewide network.

5.Work with the Department Manager and Assistant Manager in following Council of Accreditation(COA) process for policies and procedures related to program activities and other department requirements, as assigned.

6.Identify opportunities to improve processes in order to deliver the highest-quality experience possible for clients, and follow-through with these improvements as assigned.

  1. Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service training as requested.
  1. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience & Skills Required

1.Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2.1-2 years related work experience required.

3.Bilingual/bicultural (English and Spanish) speaking and writing required.

4.Demonstrated experience following and meeting program goals and objectives.

5.Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, availability to work weekends, evenings and travel overnight, as necessary.

6.Experience working with and guiding volunteers preferred.

7.Cooperative, friendly, and helpful attitude with clients and coworkers. Ability to work closely with others to ensure positive, constructive environment within the program or department, and throughout the agency.

8.Appropriate organizational and communication skills to fulfill job duties. Computer literacy required.

9.Ability to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced and growth-oriented environment, while maintaining a sense of humor and a positive, solution-oriented approach. .

10.Ability to work independently and in a team setting.

11.Passion and enthusiasm for the mission of CCDSR and its clients.

12.Must have valid California driver’s license and insurance.

Physical Requirements

1.Requires ability to sit up to 6-8 hours per day with intermittent occasional walking, standing, bending, squatting, grasping and pulling/pushing

2.Occasionally may be required to lift items up to 10 pounds to a height up to 7 feet.

3.Occasionally may be required to carry items up to 40 pounds for distances up one block.
