JOB TITLE:Network Enabler (Ageing Better City-Wide Hub)

RESPONSIBLE TO:Wellbeing Centre Managers

LOCATIONS:City-wide

JOB PURPOSE AND ROLE

To have an excellent understanding of Ageing Better Programme. To identify, support and develop community groups and activities within the city. To be the link between the Ageing Better Programme, local groups, services and the community. To develop excellent working relationships with other voluntary and statutory organisations and look at ways to work in partnership, especially with hard to reach groups. This will involve flexible working hours coordinating and participating in activities to maintain and improve the health and well-being of older people.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. To coordinate the work required to meet the agreed set outcomes of the Ageing Better Programme.
  2. To agree as part of a team outcomes and timelines for the network enabler roles and the overall programme.
  3. To identify carers and carer groups that can support Ageing Better aims and work with these to reduce loneliness in older age.
  4. To provide a high quality and responsive service to volunteers, clients who are running/coordinating and attending activities and groups.
  5. To work in partnership with key stakeholders in order to promote the Ageing Better programme and secure the programmes outcomes.
  6. To map out and communicate with community groups and individuals regarding services and activities and to assist with the planning of activities accordingly including access to Ageing Better Funds.
  7. To work flexible hours to cover the range of role requirements and targeted outcomes.
  8. Through a planned approach with other network enablers to make contact with local older people and encourage them to get involved in the community activities, particularly people who have not been involved in the past and are at risk of social isolation.
  9. To adhere to the policies and procedures agreed by Age Concern Birmingham
  10. To recognise the importance of personal development by attending appropriate training and development courses/sessions and be committed to personal and self-development through information sharing, partnership working and research.
  11. To ensure timely and accurate recording, monitoring and reporting of outcomes and outputs
  12. Recording service user activity such as attendance and obtaining feedback on the quality of service provided.
  13. To train and manage a team of volunteers to support the Ageing Better programme and outcomes.
  14. To assist groups and individuals to apply for Ageing Better pots to sustain the community group
  15. Any other duties appropriate to the post
