Job Title:Mobile Crèche Worker

Reporting to:Early Years Manager

Hours of Work:37 Hours per week.

Salary:£14,014per annum

Travel: As this position is mobile,you need use of a car insured for business use. A mileage allowance will be given.

Location:Bartongate Children's Centre,, Sinope Street, Gloucester, GL1 4AW

JOB PURPOSE

To work as an effective member of the Mobile Early Educator’s Team (MEET) to deliver flexible, high quality, crèche provision within children’s centres acrossGloucestershire, meeting the needs of families and supporting parents in their role as first educator of their children.

JOB ACTIVITIES

  1. To deliver high quality crèche sessions for children aged 0-5 within children centres, with a commitment to inclusive practice.
  1. To plan for crèche sessions, providing an appropriate and stimulating range of activities, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage, taking in to account the physical environment and resources available at each children’s centre.
  1. To act as lead worker for crèches within centre, as main contact point for staff and families, ensuring that you have the necessary information and documentation on children prior to the start of the crèche.
  1. When acting as lead worker, be responsible for the administration of medication to children, in line with parental permission.
  1. To work within the children’s centres to prepare and pack away crèche provision, undertaking risk assessments as appropriate.
  1. Work within the key person approach, when providing crèche sessions, providing personal care.
  1. Work in line with 4children children’s centre policies and procedures.
  1. Support centre staff inplanning, delivering and evaluating groups that are focused on children’s learning and development, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage
  1. Work in partnership with the children’s centre teams to provide information and support to parents on their role as parents as first educators.
  1. To contribute to staff meetings, and attend staff development sessions, to ensure the quality of the crèche provision remains to a high standard.
  1. To be flexible and responsive to change, adapting to the varied needs of families that access children’s centre services.
  1. To have the ability to promote good childcare practice in a professional and inclusive manner.
  1. To work closely with parents to create and develop open and inclusive working partnerships which support the development of their children.
  1. To undertake specialist tasks as determined by the Mobile Early Educators Team manager and Cluster Managers.
  1. To contribute and support induction training and ongoing support of trainees within the team and in the centres.
  1. To undertake training and qualifications appropriate to the job role, in line with the needs of the children’s centres.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential / Desirable
Education & qualifications / Level 3qualification early years and childcare / Basic Food hygiene certificate
Paediatric first aid course
Knowledge and Experience / At least one years’ experience of working in a childcare setting with children in the 0-5 age range
Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and experience of planning activities in line with children’s interests
Experience of working as a part of a team
Knowledge of the emotional, physical, psychological and educational development of children
Knowledge of the importance of effective and inclusive communication with babies and young children using a range of verbal and non-verbal techniques
Working knowledge of child protection issues, and the signs and symptoms of child abuse.
Experience of working within a child protection policy and following procedures
Experience of maintaining records and documentation relating to children in line with OFSTED requirements.
An understanding of the issues concerning equal opportunities and a commitment to working within an equal opportunities environment
Working knowledge of IT systems such as Outlook, Word and Excel / Experience of working with children aged 0-2 years
Experience of working with families, as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, to provide information and guidance on and encourage participation in their children’s learning and development
Experience of working with children with special education needs or additional needs
Experience of working to the Wiltshire Safeguarding Children Board and knowledge of child protection procedures
Knowledge of Makaton or British Sign Language as a method of non-verbal communication
To have been a part of an OFSTED inspection within a childcare setting or children’s centre
Experience of undertaking risk assessments on premises, equipment and activities
Skills and ability / Ability to plan crèche sessions, in line with available time and resources, to provide an enabling environment for children to learn and develop, and where parents/carers can be supported in their role as first educator.
Ability to plan crèche sessions in line with interest and needs of individual children, specifically children with additional or special educational needs
Ability and willingness to contribute to team working within the MEET and also within children’s centres
Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal colleagues, partners and families, verbally and in writing.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with a variety of other professionals and agencies in order to provide the best possible support for children and their families
Ability to implement and maintain records in line with OFSTED requirements
An empathetic, supportive and non-judgemental attitude towards children, families and partner agencies
Personal Qualities / A flexible and enthusiastic manner
Ability to work as a part of a team, but also to work on own initiative to plan and prioritise workload

Additional / Access to a vehicle, suitable and insured for business use, in order to travel across the county to deliver crèches in children’s centres

30 days per year plus Bank Holidays. Some annual leave will need to

be taken at the Christmas period, when the HQ building closes.

4.Salary

£14,014 per annum.

5.Method of Pay

Salaries are paid by direct debit into the staff members nominated bank account on the 15th day of each month.
