FLORIDA STEM TIMELINE PROJECT
Dear Parents,
As you know, we have been studying Florida history this year. It is now time for the students to create their own Florida history timeline on a STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) related topic. The students, and a lot of you, have seen examples of past projects. This is in NO WAY a written report! This should be a fun learning activity to work on with your child – a chance to show your artistic, creative side! This is an important project for your child as there are 2 Social Studies grades taken from this project and these projects will be displayed on May 12 as the 4th grade’s exhibit for the Celebration of Learning.
Here are the requirements:
1) Students must choose a STEM related topic (from the list on the back of this paper) and research to find at least 12 important dates from Florida history related to that topic as well as display at least 5 pictures which correlate with the events recorded on the timeline.
2) Timelines do not have to be long strips. We encourage 3D timelines or posters. Be creative with the shapes (dolphins, trees, rockets, etc.)
3) The text can be hand written or printed from the computer, making sure the student does the work either way! Remember that we do not want the students to plagiarize, so make sure the events are written using the student’s wording.
Resources for dates are: your child’s textbook, reference books, and the internet. Pictures may be photocopied, printed from the internet, cut from magazines and tourist brochures, or even better, hand drawn! Please DO NOT cut pictures from any books, the libraries, or your own!
THE FLORIDA TIMELINE IS DUE ON TUESDAY, MAY 10 !!
NO LATE PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!!!!!
EXTRA CREDIT will be earned by having a project that shows “Above the Ordinary” effort.

We have read and understand the requirements for the Florida STEM timeline project. We realize that it is DUE MAY 10 and that it will count as 2 Social Studies grades. We also know that NO late projects will be accepted.
