Job Title: Language Course Administrator (16hrs/wk)

Reports to: Senior Manager – Community Projects

Responsible for: Team of volunteers, ESOL tutors

Location: Liverpool Lighthouse, Oakfield R

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. ESOL

- Oversee the ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) programme and associated integration activities, workingwith tutors to support, develop and maintain a climate supportive to learners' study.

- Recruit students for courses, overseeingeligibility checks, registration and general assistance to learners, providing guidance for learners on and off site on course selection, assessments, evaluations and general access to courses.

- Assist the tutor as a teaching assistant, building up my experience and confidence to eventually feel comfortable taking the class/teaching under supervision for short periods.

- Support the project's data collection, monitoring, compliance and evaluation, maintaining a project compliance tracking system and carrying out updates as per required on funders' requirements.

- Liaise with the Finance Manager to ensure that there is a clear, reciprocal understanding of financial aspects of the project.

- Ensure that all enrolled, completed and withdrawn learner paperwork is completed correctly and inputted into a working system. This includes the waiting list and the monitoring, recording and evaluating of learner progress throughout courses.

- Oversee safeguarding of students and volunteers, ensuring that photo consent and disability disclosure forms are completed before participating in activities.

- Coordinate exam administration, setup, facilitation and feedback both with Trinity College London and onsite.

- Manage, supervise and monitor a team of volunteer ESOL assistants.

  1. Development of Language Centre

- Develop a Business Model for the Language Centre including funding and marketing strategies

- Market the LLH venue as a Trinity College London Accredited Centre for exams.

- Liaise and set up good working relationships/partnerships between other organisations, offering the venue to other organisations and companies for delivery of their ESOL lower-level courses.

- Pioneer training in other languages e.g. Spanish and Mandarin.

  1. Fundraising/Financial

- Produce a Cost Plan for each course ensuring financial viability and identify shortfalls

Act as a collecting point for information on possible sources of ESOL funding; investigate possible sources of funding; research and produce funding applications and relevant additional documentation in consultation with relevant personnel;

- Research and produce funding applications, with support from senior management (draft appeal letters/applications).

- Record all applications and follow up as appropriate.

- Draw up an ongoing list of trusts, apply for appropriate funding.

  1. Additional Duties

- Maintain organisational standards and work within the organisation's ethos, policies and procedures including safeguarding and equal opportunities.

- Undertake any other reasonable duties which may be assigned by your line manager.
