PROGRAM DETAILS
Every year, Swiss Re offers internships to a number of bright and highly motivated students, enabling them to benefit from the company's global perspective and to discover the world. A Swiss Re internship can be much more than a temporary job - it can be your first step to a rewarding career. The program is expected to last 10 - 12 weeks, offers competitive salaries, and is offered in various Swiss Re locations.
The Data AnalyticsIntern will have expertise in the following key areas:
• Data analysis
• Text Analysis
• Visual Analytics Responsibilities and opportunities include the following:
• Participate in projects planning to leverage data science and cognitive technology
• Support the process of identifying key problems
• Research and identify ideas and data possibly used to solve such problems
• Participate in the process to build prototypes
About the team
We are looking for data scientist students who have a passion for technology and desire to establish skills for realizing new analytical insights, to participate in an internship. You will work with colleagues from various countries who have studied at universities around the world and have world-class experience which you will be excited to learn from. You will be assigned to specific projects where you will understand new problems, research solutions and data sources and develop prototypes. The ideal candidate has an educational background in business analytics, computer science/engineering, computational linguistics or information science and has had exposure to at least one (and ideally a combination) of the following domains: data & text mining and information visualization.
About You
Technical /Experience Requirements:
• Pursuing a Master's Degree in data science/analytics, computer science, computational linguistics or related field.
• Analytical & conceptual skills to understand key business needs and design tailored solutions to solve specific business problems.
• Exposure to with relational databases and SQL.
• Exposure to a statistical package such as R, MATLAB, SPSS, SAS and Stata etc.
• Exposure to at least one scripting or programming language (PHP, Python, Perl, Java etc.).
• Experience with large data sets and distributed computing (Hive/Hadoop) a plus.
• Exposure to cognitive technology
• Exposure or experience in areas such as information retrieval, natural language processing, data analytics and information visualization.
• Basic understanding of statistical analysis. Ancillary Requirements

• Exceptional academic performance (minimum 3.25 GPA)
