Before you begin

Waste Reduction
/- Return crude oil liquid to the crude oil stream.
- For crude oil recovered with oily rags/pads go to: “Oily Rags”.
Disposal
/ Crude oil:- Return crude oil liquid to the crude oil stream.
- Send material used to absorb crude oil to a facility that will beneficially reuse the material as fuel. See “Oily Rags.
- Do not place in trash or allow to be placed in landfill.
Recordkeeping
/ For returning to the production stream: No record-keeping is required.For shipping use well test for analysis:
- Complete entry as “Petroleum Crude Oil” in Hazardous Materials Section of the Apache Shipping Manifest, prior to transportation.
- Maintain a copy of manifest offshore and at shore base facilities while shipping papers are active. Send original manifest with shipment.
If sent to a used oil recycler, keep records for three years.
Shipping Instructions:Crude Oil and Condensate
1.Call or FAX Dock/Base to schedule shipment.
2.Package Crude oil as follows:
- Return to Production System if salvage oil.
- Non-Bulk Packaging:
1.Steel drum 1A1 or 1A2,
c.Bulk Packaging:
1.DOT 51, 52, 53, 57, or 60 Portable Tanks
2.IMO Type 1, 2, or 5 or IM 101 or 102 Portable Tanks
3.Marine Portable Tanks
3.Mark Package:
a.Petroleum Crude Oil, 3, NA1267, PG II
b.Stencil Container-”Apache” and the generator's location (i.e. EugeneIsland 158)
4.Label Package:
- "Flammable Liquid" label.
- For packages having a volume over 64 cubic feet (478 gallons) and for portable tanks of less than 1000 gallons: Place labels on at least two ends (other than the bottom) or two sides.
5.Prepare shipping papers:
- Complete entry in Hazardous Materials Section [Section I] of the Apache Shipping Manifest. (See example)
6.Placard Vehicle/Vessel
- For cargoes of more than 1000 pounds or Bulk Shipments: "Flammable" Placard with the NA Number 1267 and the number 3 in the lower corner (1000 pounds of Crude oil is approximately 145 gallons).
- For cargoes less than 1000 pounds of total hazardous material: No Placard required on transport vehicle.
- Cargo or portable tanks shall be placarded as above on opposite sides if capacity is between 119 and 999 gallons and on all four sides if 1000 gallons or more.
