REPORTS TO: HR Manager in Sidney and Gettysburg

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for providing a variety of Human Resources services in support of the Sidney and Gettysburg manufacturing operations and the departmental day-to-day activities with general guidance from Human Resource Leadership. This position will have frequent interface with all levels of employees as well as consistent interaction with the overall Norcold and Thetford Human Resources Team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the development and communication of HR policies and procedures
  • Guides supervisors and managers in the consistent application of the HR policies and procedures
  • Addresses employee concerns assuring confidentiality as appropriate and seeks the direction and guidance from the HR Leadership on all critical issues including terminations, harassment claims, EEO issues, etc.
  • Participates in developing HR departmental goals, objectives, etc.
  • Assists in the evaluation of reports, and the results of the HR department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures for continuous improvements in the efficiency of the department and services provided.
  • Assists in all aspects of the recruitment efforts to fill exempt, non-exempt, and temporary vacant positions while maintaining appropriate recruitment records related to both direct and temporary staffing
  • Evaluates selection and placement techniques and analyzes and recommends solutions to improve overall retention efforts
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation presentations related to HR and Benefits
  • Administers various employee benefit programs, such as group insurance; i.e., life, medical, dental, AD & D, LTD, STD, retirement savings plans, Leave of Absence, etc. according to plan documents, government regulation, and established policy and procedure
  • Verifies the calculation of the monthly premiums statements for all group insurance policies and maintains statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs. Resolves administrative issues with carrier representatives.
  • Coordinates human resource procedures regarding governmental compliance issues such as FMLA, EEO, unemployment, etc., assuring all necessary and required approvals and follow-up are obtained within established guidelines. Maintains appropriate information and tracking mechanisms.
  • Administers Workers’ Compensation program. Maintains current contact with TPA, medical providers and insurance carriers, regarding claims and information. Attends hearings when necessary. Participates on Safety Committee providing support and reporting information as requested and/or required.
  • Generates monthly reports relating to benefits, headcounts, EEO, Safety and other applicable areas
  • Assists in employee relations efforts
  • Performs as a backup for hourly and salary payroll
  • Plans, coordinates and assists with all HR related events and activities
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned; i.e. special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor Degree in an applicable field

5-7 year’s HR Generalist exp. to include self-insured Worker Compensation, FMLA, and Benefit administration

Excellent communication skills oral and written

Experience using a HRIS system
