Context:
Oxfam’s ambition is that fundraising for Oxfam becomes as natural as shopping in one of our stores or giving a regular donation. The post-holder will be integral in achieving this ambition through implementing Oxfam’s community fundraising in a defined geographical area.
You will need to grow the impact of local fundraising in your region so that Oxfam is positioned to efficiently and sustainably make significant financial contributions. The emphasis will be mid-term growth, so forward planning and good decision-making will be key.
You will be joining a newly established team so a desire and ability to blaze the trail will be essential. This new team means that you are able to influence and shape the impact of your work. It also means that you will be starting from a blank-canvas – so an established address book and an intuitive sense for a good opportunity will stand you in good stead.
Oxfam believes that creating committed networks of supporters is essential for underpinning how people fundraise for the charity. So you will be experienced in growing and establishing networks of supporters – including developing supporter groups and tapping into existing networks (such as faith groups, fundraising societies etc).
In some cases Oxfam’s fundraising products – such as Oxjam or Community Walks – may motivate these networks. In other cases general support for Oxfam will be the key. Either way you will be enabling people to make a difference to overcoming poverty and suffering by harnessing passion and commitment in the community.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a track record in regional fundraising looking to make their mark by shaping Oxfam’s approach and activity within a defined region. You will be given the space to demonstrate your creativity and the aspiration to achieve your ambition.
Location:The post will work across the South East of England region and you will work closely with Oxfam’s regional office in London to plan your work to achieve maximum impact.
Other: Will require frequent regional travel and some weekend / evening working.
Interviews will be held w/c 21st February 2011
