JOB TITLE: HEAD CHEF/ CATERING MANAGER

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

To provide balanced and nutritious meals for all children attending the school.

To manage all kitchen staff to ensure an outstanding service for the school.

Directly responsible to the: Headteacher & Governors.

General Responsibilities:

Main duties would include, but are not limited to;

  • Providing balanced and nutritional meals for all children attending the school.
  • To ensure the dietary requirements of all children are fully catered for including those with specific allergies and religious requirements.
  • To liaise with parents and carers as required to ensure pupils needs are fully met.
  • To adhere to the Policies & Procedures of the school and compliance with the School meals - healthy eating standards.
  • To ensure that all relevant records are kept in line with Health and Safety and Food Hygiene to satisfy the Environmental Health Department.
  • To liaise with staff with regard to food required for children’s activities and special events in the school.
  • Ensuring that hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen is of the highest standard in accordance with Environmental Health requirements and legislation in order to maintain our current level 5 rating.
  • To ensure that all foods are ready at the specified time and correctly served, making sure that the correct food is served to children with known allergies.
  • To ensure systems for stock rotation are implemented. Ordering stock in line with requirements, keeping accounts and budget control.
  • To ensure the regular removal of waste materials to the designated waste store.
  • To ensure appropriate work wear is worn and guidelines with regard to food handling on a personal level are adhered to.
  • To be aware of COSHH and to follow relevant guidelines.
