JOB TITLE: EXPERIENCE ONTARIO COORDINATOR

JOB SUMMARY

The Sault Community Career Centre requires an EXPERIENCE ONTARIO COORDINATOR (EOC), who under the direction of the SCCC Manager is responsible for working with YOUTH to research, develop and implement sound action plans to further their education path to employment.The EOC will be responsible for networking with businesses/employers in order to find suitable employment short term job opportunities which will assist and facilitate clear education goals.The EOC will be required to engage and encourage youth to examine employment opportunities for their future and assist in examining specific educational paths that will assist them in reaching their employment goals. The EOC will be responsible for assisting each youth to develop effective work habits, make well informed decisions and maintain their educational plans and employment goals. Other duties involve accurate client record keeping and providing regular progress reports.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Determine good placement options for clients, taking into account the client's skills and abilities and the individual workplaces;
  • Liaise with business providers to gain relationships and potential future placement opportunities;
  • Guide and coach the client with all portions of their education and employment process through one on one consultations, business introductions, workshops and presentations;
  • Book meetings with clients, employers and educational administrators as needed;
  • Meet with clients to determine future job preferences and employment opportunities;
  • Follow up with the employer to ensure that the client is meeting expectations;
  • Follow up with the client to ensure that the position is meeting his/her expectations;
  • Continue to coach individuals to update their plans for their future education and employment goals as they progress through each stage of the plan;
  • Support employers who need assistance in maintaining a client on the job as they learn roles and responsibilities of each job they are exposed to;
  • Provide motivation and guidance to clients;
  • Stay up to date on changes in trends for local labour market information;
  • Manage client files, maintaining accurate records and reports regarding clients' histories and progress, services provided, and other required information along with reporting to the SCCC manager on a weekly basis;
  • Coordinate all activities involving all youth activities, conferences, workshops, introductions and presentations;
  • Respect and protect the rights of clients, including but not limited to their right to independence, autonomy, and self-determination; their right to choose and practice individual values, beliefs, religion, and culture; their right to privacy and dignity; and their right to live free from retaliation, discrimination, and abuse;
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Manual dexterity required to use laptop and peripherals; little supervision; highway and city travelling is involved;
  • Comply with the agency’s vision, values, policies and procedures;
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Post-Secondary degree in a relevant field of study

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • MUST be Bilingual - English and French; able to drive within Northern Ontario; clear drivers license; reliable vehicle
  • Strong understanding of the community, local labour markets
  • Knowledge of theory, principles and practices of career transition, counselling, and career training and development preferred
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills along with presentation and facilitating skills
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • High degree of coordination, resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Strong commitment to privacy
  • Effective communication skills, with an emphasis on listening; time management and organizational skills;
  • Coaching, goal-setting and motivational skills;
  • Computer, office software and database use proficiency;
  • Research and data entry skills;
  • Analysis and interpretation of data;
  • Experience and skilled in conflict resolution, facilitation and presentation skills;
  • Awareness of and respect for cultural diversity;sensitivity to persons with disabilities and mental health disorders.
