SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for all traditional human resources functions, as well as other responsibilities that relate to payroll administration, credentialing, training, and employee travel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Prepare Human Resources policies and procedures, and update annually as necessary, in concert with members of the management team.

Provide guidance and direction to senior management staff regarding evaluations, disciplines, and other employee related decisions.

Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and state laws.

Administration, monitoring and management of all workers’ compensation claims.

Administration and management of short and long-term disability claims.

Administration, monitoring, and management all unemployment claims. Must be in attendance for all unemployment hearings.

Administration of all COBRA related functions, including compliance with all 24 hour notice requirements.

Oversee all payroll and related withholding obligations, including the final review and approval of all hours submitted for salaried and hourly staff. Ensure smooth payroll process bi-weekly, including direct deposits.

Administration and selection of health insurance, medical and dental plans, AFLAC, Flex, EAP services.

Administer new hire enrollment process with the State of Michigan within the allotted time required by Michigan law.

Administer the company’s 401(K) program, including annual review and recommendations.

Handle all aspects of recruitment, salary negotiation, reference checks, job offers, and pre-employment physicals.

Oversee all internal job posting procedures and requirements for MFC employees, as well as the interviewing and selection process.

Administer organizations employee-referral bonus program.

Plan and conduct new hire orientation to foster positive attitudes toward company goals.

Monitor 90-day and annual review process, ensuring its completion on a timely basis.

Oversee and monitor termination procedures, including recovery of company property.

Monitor and track all employee vacation, sick and personal time off (PTO), including proper file notation.

Administer and ensure compliance with the Family Medical Leave Act.

Serve as the knowledge base for HR related questions, accepted practices, laws and standards.

Investigate all employee grievances and facilitate conflict resolutions.

Monitor all employee related incidents/accidents and their resolution – including OSHA requirements. Require all employee related accidents to report to Workplace Health for immediate examination.

Oversee and ensure proper maintenance of all personnel files including monthly audits.

Administration of all TB testing, CPR certification and re-certification processes.

Oversee Externship programs including interviewing, scheduling and evaluation.

Management of hospital credentialing process for initial; after 1 year and every 2 years. Non LIP Credentialing for FTCA, secondary source verification in concert with MGHP’s Medical Education Department.

Coordinate all provider license renewals including tracking dates, and completion and collection of all related paperwork in concert with MGHP’s Medical Education Department.

Oversee and administer tuition reimbursement program.

Oversee CME – continued medical education program, including hours used and account balances.

Maintains a courteous, helpful and conscientious attitude in dealing with co-workers and patients and their families ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

All other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has direct supervision of the Human Resources Assistant and the Training Coordinator.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Graduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related disciplines. Must be an advocate of fairness. Must possess the ability to protect confidences and confidential information.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to understand and interpret financial data, and to apply that understanding to decision making.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
