Re: Your Support for Commercial Lines Small Business Property

Dear <insert name>:

I am writing to you as a broker member of ORBiT, a grass roots organization of brokers, carriers and technology vendors that exists to drive Real Time workflows for our industry. Specifically, I would like to express to you my support for the Best Practice Workflow for Commercial Lines Small Business Property which ORBiT has developed, and request that your organization give a high priority to system changes supporting this workflow.

In the past, our carrier and vendor partners have, with the best of intentions, delivered to the broker community technology solutions that were not well aligned with our core workflows and procedures, requiring us to make significant changes to allow the technology to fit into our office. Sometimes these changes resulted in workflows and procedures that were less efficient than we would wish.

As brokers we need workflows that support our best practices as efficiently as possible. With that in mind we are asking our carrier and vendors partners to build their technology to align with the best practice workflows that brokers have developed, which we know will work in our operations.

As such, I am attaching the Best Practice Workflow (BPW) for Commercial Lines Small Business Property. This BPW was developed by a dedicated team of broker, carrier and vendor members of ORBiT, and has been vetted by the broader ORBiT membership.

We believe that workflow represents the preferred best practice approach, and is supported by the ORBiT community, which includes over 100 brokerages, with 5,200 individual brokers, representing over $5,000,000,000 premium volume.

We are making you aware of this BPW and ask you to use it as a reference as you make system changes and give a high priority to support for this workflow as you develop your roadmap for future system changes.

Your consideration of this request will help our community work together to build a better and more efficient industry benefiting all stake holders especially the insurance buying public.
