Job Title:Development Communications Manager

The Development Communications Manager provides communications support for the development team of the Western Golf Association and Evans Scholars Foundation. This position supports the team’s efforts to raise funds for the Foundation’s mission of providing full tuition and housing college scholarships to hardworking golf caddies with limited financial means.

The Development Communications Manager will create and edit letters, presentations, marketing pieces, speaking remarks and other materials as needed in a fast-paced, dynamic office setting. Seeking a detail-oriented individual with experience managing and meeting deadlines. This position will coordinate with the communications department but report directly to the Senior Vice President, Development & Strategy.

Specific Activities

  • Write and edit communications materials for donors, prospective donors, organization leaders and development staff.
  • Prepare speaking remarks and reports for organization leaders.
  • Assist with content for the WGA ESF magazine, fundraising events and development collateral.
  • Conduct research and fact check/proof development documents as needed.
  • Assist in designing print and visual materials, interfacing with designers, photographers and printers in coordination with the communications department.
  • Oversee the production schedule for a range of editorial materials and projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including mail merge and basic office tasks.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Liberal Arts, Public Relations, English or related field preferred.
  • Two to three years minimum related work experience in communications, public relations or marketing.

Highly Desired Requirements

  • Experience in writing published articlesfor print media or corporate/non-profit public relations.
  • Experience in proofreading and editing copy for print and online publications and presentations.
  • Experience in designing materials for print and online publications.
  • Experience with project management for publications and other internal and external communications.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent writing skills, firm command of AP style and keen attention to detail.
  • Highproficiency in MS Office, with an emphasis on Word, PowerPoint and Excel.Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite a plus, with an emphasis on Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Superior ability to multitask and project manage.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to work well with a wide range of constituents and staff.
  • Willingness to pitch in for any task required in a small team environment.
  • Ability to follow brand guidelines and adhere to established standards.
  • Ability to write in multiple voices.
