POSITION SUMMARY: Provide supervision and management of everyday operations of the Learning Center, which houses a tutoring/computer usage area, adaptive technology lab and Testing Center. Perform, manage, and organize staffing for all of the campus assessments, including off campus testing and dual credit testing. Also coordinate the testing activity as well as the scoring and reporting.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: (A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.) Completion of master's degree in Education, Counseling or core academic area; 3 -5 years related experience including supervision of employees.

ESSENTIAL TASKS: Employee must be able to perform the following essential functions to the satisfaction of the employee’s supervisor.

 Manage the daily operations of the Learning Center and Testing Center.

 Supervise Learning Center personnel assigned, recommending selection, retention, promotion and discharge as appropriate.

 Coordinate scheduling for tutoring, testing and Adaptive Tech Lab services.

 Ability to communicate effectively in a professional, tactful and courteous manner with students, employees, faculty, and the general public.

 Develop and implement Learning Center, Testing Center and Adaptive Tech Lab policies and procedures.

 Prepare and maintain departmental policy manuals.

 Develop and monitor department budget.

 Oversee administration of placement and exit testing, including scheduling, purchasing, scoring, and reporting.

 Support faculty and staff in access concerns/issues for students in cooperation with the Access Counselor and in keeping with the provisions of ADA; oversee adaptive technology lab operations.

 Stay abreast of current and developing trends in Developmental Education and learning assistance programs.

 Design and organize tutor training content and delivery methods in accordance with guidelines set by CRLA and NADE. Maintain course up-to-date and relevant. Coordinate instruction.

 Maintain records and reports for certification and assessment purposes.

 Support efforts associated with the college’s assessment plan. Develop and implement assessment tools to evaluate effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

 Develop programs to support students in transitioning to college; be an integral part of the Foundations Seminar program.

 Supervise retention efforts associated with the grant program.

 Represent ECC at professional organization meetings and events.

 Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

 Teach one to two credit hours of Foundations Seminar per fall and spring semester as needed.

 Work with the Student Development staff in addressing student learning concerns.

 Support all operations associated with student academic preparation and remediation of identified skills.

 Work with faculty from diverse programs in developing support/success strategies for their students.

 Support technical/career/vocational faculty in targeted practices to enhance student learning in their programs.

 Develop student learning strategies in career/technical skills.

 Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 College: Ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form; ability to perform all essential functions using safe work methods and following safety regulations relating to job; knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices; Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and reports.

 Departmental: ability to interpret policy and establish methods and procedures for acquiring, installing, testing, operating, or repairing machinery or technology systems; knowledge of department policies, procedures, and practices with the ability to answer work related questions; and/or interpret and apply these guidelines correctly in various situations; budget management skills; ability to read and interpret departmental documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Familiarity with standardized tests and procedures (WorkKeys, CAAP, CBASE, ASSET, etc.); knowledge of ADA, its implications for the higher learning environment and familiarity with the most current adaptive technology.

EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE: Utilize current College and/or department information technology including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Datatel, ImageNow, etc.; office machines such as telephones, fax machines, or copiers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions; extended periods of time viewing computer monitor; availability to work or meet in the evenings and/or on weekends.

 Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information; Ability to travel out-of-state as well as locally to participate in meetings, conferences, and other activities related to the operations of the colleges.

 Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
