JOB TITLE: Program DirectorAAA/3
DEPARTMENT: Area Agency on Aging, River Valley Regional Commission
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directingservice programsthat are designed to serve senior citizens within the region.
MAJOR DUTIES:
oPerforms the duties of the AAA Director in his or her absence as requested.
oDevelops, implements and evaluates wellness, disease management, nutrition, and medication education programs.
oAdministers the agency’s Community Care Services Program (CCSP); reviews CCSP complaint logs and offers intervention and education to responsible staff; works with providers on solutions and advocates on behalf of the clients.
oReviews screenings and assessments to determine eligibility for CCSP and Level of Care.
oEvaluates client needs through AIM reports, nutrition and medication management programs chart reviews and biometric screenings; prepares pre- and post-test outcome studies; prepares outcome and follow-up reports.
oMonitors and oversees the development of the Kinship-Caregiver program.

oAssists the Director in the development of the area plan and Quality Improvement Report.
oResearches and acquires grant funding for wellness and outreach programs; maintains required reports.
oDevelops, writes, and submits timely monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required for various programs, ie., wellness, ADRC, Medicare, Diabetes, CCSP, Kinship, Caregivers, etc.
oDevelops and oversees case management on AAA level.
oDevelops and oversees Georgia Cares programs and services.
oServes as Wellness Program Director for RVRC staff.
oRepresents the agency at various community events and meetings.
oAttends workshops, conferences, and meetings relating to aging services programs and issues.
o Organizes quarterly senior site managers meetings, develops and presents program.
oPerforms other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
oKnowledge of federal and state aging services guidelines.
oKnowledge of commission programs, policies, and procedures.
oKnowledge of relevant state and federal laws and agency rules and regulations as applied to aging services.
o Knowledge of such programs as Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
oKnowledge of budgeting and accounting procedures.
oKnowledge of the practices and principles of aging services program design and administration.
o Skill in organizing and coordinating programs and services.
oSkill in supervising the work of others.
oSkill in performing mathematical calculations.
oSkill in operating office equipment such as a computer and calculator.
o Skill in public and interpersonal relations.
oSkill in oral and written communication.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Area Agency on Aging Director assigns work in terms of programgoals and objectives. The supervisor reviews work through conferences, reports and observation of program activities.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include RVRC/AAA policies and procedures, CCSP manuals, provider manuals, grant requirements, applicable state and federal laws, and relevant federal and state agency regulations governing aging services programs. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied duties in planning, coordination, and supervision. Strict reporting deadlines and frequent changes to requirements contribute to the complexity of the position.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this assignment is to direct the operations of service programs for the aging population. Successful performance ensures the provision of appropriate aging services programs to senior citizens within the region and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, a variety of state and federal agency officials, service provider personnel, health care workers, social service agencies, business owners, educators, and the general public.
PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, provide services, resolve problems, motivate or influence persons, and offer training.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects and distinguishes between shades of color.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an office. The employee may be exposed to contagious or infectious diseases. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc. Extensive travel throughout the region is required.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: This position has direct supervision over Kinship Care/Caregivers Coordinator, Case Manager, and Georgia Cares Coordinator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
oExperience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with a minimum of three years experience or service in the field of Aging.
oPossession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
oRegistered Nurse with current license to practice in the State of Georgia.
o Prefer Geriatric Board Certified RN.
