Job Description:

  1. To provide clinical leadership and direction within the organisation
  2. To work collaboratively to support the programme directors and clinical leads within their roles
  3. To be responsible for the management of the clinical practice and therapeutic quality of services provided across the organisation
  4. As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), to help the charity to structure reporting to the CEO and Board of Trustees
  5. There is no case load associated with this role, it is a team leading and senior management position ensuring best practice and research as to its effectiveness within all programmes.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To report to the CEO.
  • To liaise and work with the Clinical Trustee.
  • To present regularly to the Board of Trustees.
  • To report directly to the CEO, liaise with the Clinical Trustee and other members of the Trustee Board around clinical issues
  • Chair monthly clinical subcommittee meetings with programme managers.
  • Attend quarterly Clinical Trustee led subcommittee meetings.
  • Support the clinical leads and programme directors in clinical decision making including transmission of skills and training to take responsibility for their programmes’ initiatives.
  • To support programme directors’ work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate
  • To oversee regular evaluation and monitoring of all aspects of clinical delivery, and where relevant, recommend changes and see that they are fully implemented within a reasonable time period.
  • To ensure an appropriate framework for assessing clients and their families initially and monitor and develop the provision of individual / family therapy, parental work and group therapy with an emphasis on empowering parents of children and young people under 18.
  • To oversee, in conjunction with the Placement Manager(s), the recruitment, induction and development of all placements and volunteers. In particular, to ensure appropriate levels of therapeutic personnelare provided for particular children and their families and receive appropriate supervision according to the business plan
  • To hold overall responsibility to ensure adequate ongoing training and supervision of therapists, and to ensure all therapists and supervisors follow UP’s business policies via programme directors.
  • To ensure that CPD needs of all professional members are maintained in order to meet requirements for registration in the appropriate professional body.
  • To participate in regular Board meetings, staff meetings, staff training programmes, group supervisory sessions, and accept the responsibility for facilitating the development of positive team relationships as requested.
  • To develop, embed and monitorpolicy and procedures amongst clinicians, and ensure compliance with professional codes of ethics in conjunction with programme directors.
  • To ensure that monitoring, audit and research of the effectiveness of evidence-based interventions is fully and successfully embarked upon by all programmes.
  • Share responsibilities for the operational and strategic development of services at all levels throughout the organisation as part of executive management functions and as professional head for clinical workers within the organisation.

  • A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) enhanced check or equivalent overseas police check will be obtained for employees at this level. As this post is covered by the Exceptions Order 1975 to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, any spent or unspent criminal convictions will be considered when considering a person’s suitability for the role.
  • Outcome based targets will be developed by the CEO in conjunction with the employee and will supplement this job description. The job description will be subject to regular review and change.
  • This job involves working some flexible hours on a planned basis.

Monitoring and ongoing development of outcomes:

Part of the annual appraisal, will include looking at CPD needs of the Clinical Director so maintenance of requirements for registration in the appropriate professional body is maintained.

Accountability:

For the provision of daily activities, you will work closely with the CEO, Clinical Trustee and Programme Directors.
