Main purpose of job: Engage with new and existing clients within hospitals,

and at patient educationevents to promote services delivered at Penny Brohn UK to people affected by cancer.

Engage with health care professional and stakeholders, building relationships to ensure development and delivery of services in hospitals

Reporting to: National Service Manager

Relationships:Develop excellent relationships with clients, health care professionals, stakeholders and service providers. Develop and maintain excellent relationships with Penny Brohn staff at the National Centre and across the regions.

Main duties:

Engagement with people affected by cancer and Health Care Professionals

  1. To engage with patients and families affected by cancer in hospitals, community settings and at the national centre. Refer clients where appropriate to services at Penny Brohn UK, helping them to live well with the impact of cancer
  2. Work alongside existing staffto develop long term relationships with health and social care teams. This will be in locations such as BHOC, RUH andWeston-Super-Mare, in order to raise awareness of Penny Brohn UK services and support,enabling maximumclientreferral to local services.
  3. To ensure a regular presence at hospitals on a weekly basis, e.g. Chemotherapy day unit at BHOC and to increase referrals from people affected by cancer. Assist recruitment and retention of volunteers to support this activity.
  4. Liaise with other service providers, community groups, local authorities and local businesses, to increase awareness and referrals to services.
  5. Host information stands at Health and Wellbeing events, in locations across the region.
  6. Attend local stakeholder events and meetings as required.
  7. Attend regular team meetings, CPD and training sessions.
  8. Manage flexible working arrangements which may include weekend or evening work.
  9. To monitor and evaluate all community based services and activities and to report on the numbers of clients attending, on a regular basis.

Person Specification:

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working with people from a range of backgrounds.
  • Experience of working with clients with cancer or long term health conditions.
  • Experience of working in a healthcare and community setting.
  • Experience of developing relationships and partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Adaptability to the needs of clients and services.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel as required.
