JOB TITLE:Civil Clerk (PICN Group)
REPORTS TO:Civil Group Senior Clerk
LOCATION:Manchester base but required to travel to other sites and to client’s offices on occasion
JOB SUMMARY:
To assist in the overall delivery of clerking services to the PICN team. To provide support and assistance in the training and development of junior clerks.
1.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1.1General Clerking Services
- Diary Management for PICN Barristers
- Deputising for Assistant Senior Civil (PICN) Clerk when necessary
- Organising seminars and other events arranged by the group
- Forward Planning Diary for delivery of Briefs
- Telephone bookings of hearings and conferences
- Fee negotiation
- Computer recording of briefs, instructions, & emails
- Assisting in the training and development of junior clerks where necessary
- Billing hearings and paperwork where necessary
1.2 Marketing
- Assisting in marketing activities in and out of chambers.
- Promotion of all members in the group across sites.
1.3General
- To ensure the implementation of the equality and diversity policy.

- To take reasonable care for your health and safety and that of other persons who may be affected by the performance of your duties.
- To assist with the development of staff
- To undertake Business development activities where required
2.Key Performance Indicators
- Accurate logging on of brief/instructions received from solicitors
- Daily diary completed, all briefs in & all fees fixed.
- Work allocated to appropriate seniority of counsel avoiding conflicts/potential clashes where possible
- Early delivery of Briefs on appropriate dates
- Solicitor feedback positive when a new or existing contact has instructed
- All members of chambers notified before 6pm with all correct papers with counsel
- High level of job satisfaction
