Job Title:Business Analyst (Cost and Growth)

Accountable to:CEO

Key responsibilities:To analyse Sahir House business functions, implement models for efficient costing and project management

Principal duties and tasks to fulfil the key responsibilities:

1)Strategy, values and ethos

a)To work in a manner which furthers Sahir House’s objectives, mission statement and values

2)General Duties

a)To monitor and manage own workload and report on a regular basis to the CEO

b)To practise within a continuous improvement cycle

c)To respect and maintain appropriate confidentiality at all times, in accordance with the organisation’s policy and in line with external standards (such as NHS Information Governance and Data Protection Act [1998])

3)External and internal relations

a)To work in partnership with the other staff

4)Service Delivery

a)To carry out a review of key processes and documents, including strategic outlook, accounts and contracts

b)To liaise with senior staff leading each business area (senior management team) to understand the resources required for service delivery.

c)To create a map showing all current processes grouped into business areas

d)To link the above with existing funding streams and map out when each funding area comes to an end

e)To include within organisational map the following:

  1. Distinct processes
  2. Inputs (including resources and capabilities required)
  3. Outputs (including outcomes delivered)
  4. Limitations
  5. Opportunities for growth

f)To determine what capacity is utilised by each process in order to determine unit costs

g)To identify efficiencies that could be achieved within processes

h)To design a ‘road map’ for senior management to take forward from the end of the project, to include a decision making framework to allow swift assessment of potential new business, in terms of:

  1. How feasible it is as replacement for current work
  2. What additional capacity or capability it requires, if new work
  3. How to cost the service for any bid, tender etc

i)To develop tools to monitor departmental performance, highlight emerging issues and interventions required

5)Legal and regulatory compliance

a)To work in a manner which maintains and promotes the safety and security of children and vulnerable adults

b)To ensure all practices of the organisation promote equality and diversity

6)Hours of work

This is a full time, fixed term post, working 37 hours per week for 6 months, based at our Liverpool City Centre offices

Note: the nature of this work may require occasional evening and weekend work, for which time off is arranged under the terms and conditions of employment

7)Salary

This post has been graded at an annual equivalent salary of £28,203(or £2,350 per month before tax and deductions)

Person Specification

The role requires a finance/business graduate with good technical skills and the ability to communicate well with other staff and managers

Essential Experience

  1. Graduate in business, finance, related field or with equivalent work experience
  2. An inquisitive outlook
  3. Able to assimilate information quickly from a range of sources
  4. Able to deal with ambiguity
  5. Able to analyse departmental accounts
  6. Able to identify cost recovery and profitability for each business area
  7. Confident in communicating with senior managers
  8. Able to communicate complex data in an appropriate manner to a variety of audiences
  9. Knowledge of project management
  10. Understanding issues around confidential and personal data
  11. Understanding of the principles and practice of equality and diversity

Desirable Experience

  1. Experience of charity accounting
  2. Experience of customer relationship marketing (CRM) systems
