1.0Job Summary

Working in close collaboration with the Deputy Program Manager and Program Officer, the field-based Agriculture Program Assistant will assist in the mobilization and training of2700 households to increase their capacity for year round agriculture production and sustainable food production. The Program Assistant will provide support in establishing 16 seed and crop production plots and assisting in training and monitoring the production plots. Trainings include various agricultural techniques such as land preparation, efficient planting systems, pest and diseases management and use of natural pesticides and fertilization techniques. The goal of this program is to create favorable, food-secure economic environment that facilitates livelihoods restoration and self-reliance for returnees and host communities

2.0Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Support in the identification, formation and training of 2700 households and 16 seed and crop production plots in Morobo and JubaCounty.
  2. Assist in the coordination, monitoring, and providing logistical support of agriculture activities in targeted areas including the distribution of inputs and starter kits.
  3. Assist in the implementation of market assessments and market agents in targeted areas.
  4. Support the Program Officer in the coordination of additional programs and activities with other units (Health and sanitation and Vocational Training).
  5. Maintain meticulous records of all distributed assets and workshops
  6. Liaise with communities, partner agencies and donors
  7. Develop and maintain working relationships with key community leaders, government officials, and beneficiaries
  8. Participate in development and ensure timely and effective implementation of CHF Agriculture program.
  9. Participate weekly team meetings to ensure inter and intra-program communications and planning excellence
  10. Prepare weekly, monthly reports and final reports on activities progress, constraints and suggestions for improved performance.
  11. Prepare procurement documents related to activities in consultation with the procurement and logistics department
  12. Monitor activities and if necessary make readjustments in consultation with the program manager
  13. Perform any other duties as required by your supervisor.

3.0Required Qualifications: Degree Level or Higher Diploma on Agriculture

3.1Education / Training:

  • Agriculture, International Development, Community Development or other related field.

3.2Experience:

  • 2-3 years work experience in agriculture or related fields
  • 2-3 years experience in community organization/mobilization and previous work with NGOs

3.3Desired and Technical Skills:

  • Ability to negotiate with government officials, UN and other agencies, local artisans and community representatives.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines yet effectively carry out program activities with other CHF projects being implemented.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to the field on a regular basis and provide timely feedback
  • Ability to work long hours in difficult situations
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Juba Arabic
  • Advanced computer skills.

Must be a Sudanese to be considered.
