Job title:Account Controller – National Accounts & Key Multiples

2. Job Purpose:

  • To support and develop the customer’s SPAR store base, implementing the BTP strategy through the Business Development Manager team.

3. Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

  • Development of appropriate retail business plans, operational targets and budgets, in conjunction with the retailer.
  • Manage the relationship between customer, other SPAR RDC’s, SPAR Central Office and AFB internal divisions to facilitate the implementation of Retailer & BTP strategy
  • Monitoring retailers’ level of adherence / loyalty towards recognised SPAR operating standards and facilitating improvement as required
  • To lead and support the Business Development Managers to implement the divisional strategy, based on the four key drivers of product mix, cost, customer foot-fall and basket size.
  • To work in conjunction with the Retail Operations Manager to drive retail client satisfaction, improving loyalty and retention by ensuring attendance at divisional and regional trade partner events.
  • To support the Development team in recruiting regional and divisional accounts to grow profitable wholesale sales.
  • Coaching and mentoring Business Development Managers to support them in delivering a consultative relationship with trade partners to grow profitable retail sales.
  • Monitoring trade partner adherence / loyalty towards recognised SPAR operating standards and facilitating improvement as required.
  • Accountability for trade partner bad debt management working in conjunction with the Credit Control function.

4. Financial Responsibilities:

  • Deliver net margin contribution from account base in line with the budget
  • Delivering a regional wholesale sales line, improving like for like sales and growing wholesale & retail margin.

On occasions the post holder will be required to work away from designated work place which may involve staying away from home as and when required in accordance with the needs of the business. The post holder will be responsible for the appropriate use and maintenance of company vehicle.
