General Description (Purpose and Function):

The Physical Therapist position is responsible professional work providing physical therapy services to patients/client who have impairments, functional disabilities or change in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes wellness services including screening and health promotion. Emphasis on work is to help patients/client suffering from injury or disease to restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. The Physical Therapist work with health-care teams that including physicians, occupational therapist, and psychologists.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):

·  Performs evaluation on news patients, establish goals and develop appropriate treatment plans with the patient in accordance to departmental policies and procedures and based on standards of practice established by the APTA.

·  Documents all evaluation, treatments and other pertinent patient interaction, on a daily basis, in accordance with department policies and procedures.

·  Provides relevant education to patient and/or family regarding the patient’s condition and instruction for home activities.

·  Communicates with physicians and their staff; obtain necessary information and suggest revisions in treatment when deemed appropriate.

·  Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner in accordance to department policies and procedures.

·  Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity according to standards and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis, real clinic need and treatment within the UHealth System.

·  Participates in quality and safety improvement activities as directed.

·  Orients instruct and direct work activities for assistants and support personnel.

·  Utilizes appropriate methods and materials for effective learning, monitoring response education, and adapting program appropriately.

·  May provide clinical education experience for students as requested.

·  Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal, local and state guidelines and regulations.

·  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·  Knowledge of the principles and practices in the field of physical therapy.

·  Knowledge of local, state, federal laws and regulations pertaining to physical therapy.

·  Ability to plan the objectives, approach and work plan to accomplish goals in accordance with professional and departmental standards.

·  Ability to supervise personnel in a manner conducive to effective performance and fostering high morale.

·  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

·  Bachelor degree. Physical Therapist is license required.
