POSITION:Canteen Clerk

REPORTS TO:Camp Warden

WORK TIME:

  • Two weekends of Pre-Camp Training (May 31st and June 20th -22nd 2014)
  • 8 weeks of Camp: July 2nd- August 30th, 2014 at a rate of $10.50/hour x 40 hours/week x 7weeks (+1 week at 32 hours) = $3,276.00
  • One unpaid week of vacation in July

SALARY: Hourly and weekly rate in range of $3,275.00 for total period

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Canteen Clerk will provide oversight of summer canteen operations; including purchasing, proper storage, and selling of products. This position requires inventory management skills as well as financial administration, including maintaining expense/revenue accounts and preparing bank deposits. The Canteen Clerk will work with the Camp Warden to address opportunities and areas of improvement for the Canteen. This is a great opportunity for a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who is looking for experience in running a small business.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Working with Camp Warden, responsible for the set up and take down of the canteen site for summer operations.

2.Maintain a clean, sanitary and well-organized canteen site.

3.Schedule Staff canteen operational hours to fit summer campers program and public pool hours.

4.Utilize safe handling and storage practices.

5.Collaborate with Camp Administrator to determine stock volume based on anticipated camper numbers for upcoming weeks.

6.Complete weekly inventory of goods and purchase supplies weekly to maintain sufficient stock.

7.Provide weekly financial statement including expenses and revenue to Camp Warden.

8.Submit weekly bank deposits to Camp Warden.

9.Responsible for the general maintenance of the canteen, camp equipment and supplies.

10.Other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.Minimum of 18 years of age.

2.Capable of working with children in a camp setting.

3.Experienced in providing customer service, store front duties and sales.

4.Strong organizational/planning skills and able to work well independently.

5.Current Standard First Aid Certificate including CPR.

6.Embodies personal beliefs in keeping with the Mission, Principles and Practices of Scouts Canada.

7.Demonstrated appropriate attitude, skills and knowledge for the position.

8.Demonstrated leadership skills, strong communication and human relations skills.

9.Completes Scouts Canada screening process including a clear Police Records Check, with Vulnerable Sector Check.

10.Is prepared to take any necessary training, including additional Pre-Camp Training if deemed necessary.

11.Willing to work non-traditional hours.

12.Good physical health.
