MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

SUPPORT FOR PUPILS

a)Attending to the personal and social needs of pupils.

b)Ensuring pupils’ safety at all times, in and out of the classroom.

c)Supervising pupils during break and lunch times.

d)Enabling pupils to be included in all aspects of school life.

e)Supporting programmes of special care.

f)Where appropriate, administering first aid and medication in accordance with LEA policy.

g)Assisting individuals and groups to complete learning activities to support the teacher’s approach.

h)Encouraging pupils to participate and learn.

SUPPORT FOR TEACHER(S)

a)Keeping classroom resources in good order.

b)Assisting in preparation of resources before lessons and tidying afterwards.

c)Cleaning and ensuring classroom is tidy.

d)Repairing and maintaining apparatus and resources.

e)Assisting in the presentation of work and display areas.

SUPPORT FOR THE SCHOOL

a)Supporting the aims of the school.

b)Supporting and maintaining school resources and systems.

c)Supporting establishment and maintenance of positive relations with parents / carers, support agencies and pupils.

d)Attending extra-curricular meetings.

e)Being aware of, and adhering to, the school’s policies and procedures.

f)Being aware of confidentiality issues.

g)Complete individual training and development and assist in the training of new members of the team.

h)To develop the City Council’s commitment to equal opportunities and to promote non-discriminatory practices in all aspects of work undertaken.
